[The mention of Psycho running into a demon has Wayne questioning several things. Was Syx referring to the main Psycho Delic he knows, the second one slithering back in, or one from Syx’s own dimension? Of the three options, he’d prefer that it was the first. Sure, a third Psycho who will talk to this Megamind means that there is a level of control there, but that would also mean that that Psycho might use magic and that is not something he would enjoy battling regularly.]

[Wayne scoffs at the mention of the other Metro Man.] If he’s getting lazy just because there are other heroes around, then it’s quite possible he is like the usual versions of myself you can see around here. A quitter. There are at least two nearly identical versions of myself that have retired from the Game. And they did so before this overlapping dimensional nonsense. Girly’s Metro Man is one of them.

“Be nice,” Harrison cautioned his mate.  He knows his husbands dim view of most of the other Wayne’s in town, but he doesn’t want him insulting Syx’s other lover.

“I do some business with one of the Wayne Scotts who never came out as Metro Man before faking his own death.  He’s married to Bernard, the curator of the Metro Man slash Megamind museum.”  Harrison shrugged.  “But he is right, most of the other Wayne’s in town are out of the game or never got in it.  Leaves my man as the main hero in town.”  And he blows his Wayne a kiss.

Syx frowned, “That has to be taxing… I had a good system back home to keep things under control, but it’s all fallen apart here,” her took a drink from his cocoa before picking at what was left on his plate, “Considering the mess everything is in, I’m not sure if rebuilding is even possible.”

The idea that the standard state for Wayne to exist in is a quitter doesn’t bode well with Syx. He’d been growing ever increasingly worried about Wayne.

[Making a dull noise of acknowledgement, Wayne takes another bite of his pancakes. Harrison can be as business-like and friendly as wanted with the other Wayne’s, but he’ll have no part in it. Just because they have a new life doesn’t mean that they weren’t in the wrong and it doesn’t mean he can’t make sure they know it.]

[He returns the gesture to his husband before turning his attention back to Syx.] Personally, I think you should drop the idea of rebuilding. All that would equate to is trying to force a square peg into a round hole. I’m not saying you shouldn’t use any of your old methods, I’m saying that trying to put things back exactly like they were before is going to blind you to new opportunities and will just frustrate you when things don’t work.
You are in a new city with new problems and new resources, work with them.

Harrison turned to smile warmly at his mate.  This is why Wayne is a good hero – hell the best hero in town.  His husband knows just what to say.  He gets people and knows how to tell them what they need to hear.

“I agree,” he chimes in between bites of bacon.  “I know it will be a lot of work to start from scratch, but there are also a lot of new possibilities here.  You can’t deny that part of your mega mind is iching for the challenge as well as the opportunities.”   And he winks at Syx with a flirty grin.

Syx groaned and slumped dramatically in his chair, his hands thrown up into the air, “How am I supposed to gain any semblance of control over a mess like this! Most of my brain bots can’t even tell the difference between mine and the other Megamind’s Lairs! And that’s not even getting into helping Anna with whatever her curse is and Wayne being moody and I still need to talk to Miss Ritchi, and my Da- …Warden changed. Some of my Uncles did too…” he sank down further, it was just too much as once, “I feel like I’m drowning.”

[Wayne can tell through their bond that Harrison has at least partly figured out what he’s thinking due to the mild amount of disapproval. At least Harrison isn’t telling him no. That means that either Harrison agrees with his point of view to some degree or, at least, doesn’t seem to think that it will be a disaster.]

[Syx’s question has him pausing with a forkful of pancakes halfway to his mouth. Wayne grins back at Syx, though his is less innocent than the villain’s.] He doesn’t have to, but I’m pretty sure I can persuade him to listen. I’ve talked sense into another version of myself once before. So what’s another?

“Excellent,” Harrison replied with a grin.  Syx was happy.  Wayne was happy.  Okay, Syx’s Wayne might end up getting punched in the face, but if he truly was behaving as Syx said, that might not be a bad thing.  As long as Wayne didn’t want to punch Syx in the face…..

“So now that that’s settled, lets talk shop.  I think Wayne should hear about your approach to villainy in Metro City,” he prompted, looking pointedly at his mate.  They were going to have to discuss business sooner or later and Harrison would rather just get it out of the way.

Feeling a sense of relief, Syx went back to his food. It was a wonderful to not be alone in this matter, to have more people who understood relationships, especially odd ones. Often his Uncles advice was… suspect or unhelpful and Minion had less experience than Syx did when it came to relationships.

Mouth full, Syx choked at Harrison’s topic change. Thumping his chest with a sputter, “Ah… I… okay?” he should have known this would come up… but he’d never talked villainy with Wayne outside of their slowly setting up the rules they’d abide by, “I could run down the rules of the game and villains code? I had a similar discussion with uh… Girly?” he looked to Harrison for confirmation on the nickname for the female Megamind, “when I first got here. Otherwise, if there’s something more you need to know…”

It was one thing to mention the rest of his business with Harrison, but he was suddenly incredibly self-conscious about speaking about his work as Mr. Blue with a Wayne. He offered up a somewhat nervous smile, “I’d like to hear about how your ‘game’ differs from mine as well, if it does, that is. Girly gave me the impression things were very similar for her, but I know she’s a hero know… which is frankly baffling…”

Harrison set down his fork and without hesitation, leaned his head against Syx’s and wrapped an arm around the other man’s waist.  “I’m sure it will all work out,” he says, shifting to give the other blue man a brief kiss on the top of his head as he snuggles him close.  “My father always said destiny was the path we created for ourselves.  Give both of you some time to adjust to this new role…. and a new Metro City.”

[Considering that this is a villain Megamind, ‘on top’ is definitely not the way to predict how things will go. Still, he can’t help but want to help this clearly depressed Megamind.]

If that doesn’t work, I can always have a talk with him. Just because won’t let you in, doesn’t
mean he can keep me out. [There is a flicker of red in his eyes again.
While Wayne really does want to help Syx, there is admittedly also a
large part of him that is purely spoiling for a real fight. He knows
himself well enough to know that this other Metro Man probably isn’t going listen to him without having some sense knocked into the guy first.]

Harrison isn’t sure if Syx catches that flicker of red in Wayne’s eyes or if he would even know what it means if he did.  But Harrison knows exactly what it means and gives his mate a wary look.  He’s not sure this situation would be improved by punching things, but that is his mates m.o.  And he’s secretly pleased that his mate sees Syx as someone to protect.  That probably means he doesn’t see him as a threat.  He keeps his head leaned against Syx’s but picks up his fork in the other hand and continues to make work on his breakfast.

Feeling soft and small in Harrison’s arms, Syx nods, “…create for ourselves…” it was a wonderfully optimistic thought, but you could only expand so far outside of the whole you were dropped into. He knew what he was. They only thing he could be. What he had to be. It wasn’t like he didn’t have fun with it. He’d made it his. Made it enjoyable. It was who he was.

Rising a bit from cuddling against Harrison to look at Wayne, he could only blink with a slow growing smile as the thought settled, “Yeah. Yeah! He’d surely listen to you! He’d have to, right?”

[From how Syx was acting earlier, Wayne doubts that the other man would consider giving up on the other Metro man. It’s just not in blue people to be quitters like that. And, while he would love to have an excuse to battle Syx, it just wouldn’t seem right to do so for the express purpose of making another version of himself jealous.]

[Wayne’s eyes flicker red momentarily. He well remembers who and what he used to be as a child. He was a jerk and a bully and thoroughly insecure.] This might be presumptuous of me to say, but have you considered that he is scared? My defense when I was a kid was to lash out at certain targets when I was afraid. I know that that is largely what caused my Megamind to become a villain. I was afraid of what his obvious alienness mess up in my life, so I painted a target on his back.

“Well whatever his reasons, it sounds like someone needs to shape up.  You could absolutely do better.  There are plenty of other fish in the sea, hell, there are plenty of other Waynes in town if that’s your type,” Harrison said blithely.  He reached over and gave Syx’s knee a supportive squeeze. “You’re a real catch – cute, sexy, smart, and far more well adjusted than one might think given your choice of profession.  If he doesn’t appreciate you, fuck him.”

“Does it really change anything if he is?” Syx answered Wayne, “He won’t talk to me… and… I can’t…”  -survive being hurt again-  “So maybe he is. But I don’t know how to help him and I’m not some- some- toy! to be coveted and kept.”

“If… if he can’t share… maybe he just… can’t have me,” Syx swallowed, but that went both ways. If Wayne couldn’t have him… he couldn’t have Wayne either. Making an exasperated sound syx covered his face, all the thoughts that had been churning in his head were leaking out and finding voice. He didn’t really want to end things with Wayne, did he?

Looking up at Harrison, he didn’t even know what to say. A different Wayne? He knew that a threesome would involve Harrison’s mate… but… replacing Wayne? He… he couldn’t…

Slumping to lean his head on Harrison’s shoulder, Syx sighed, “I’m not ready to make a decision yet… Things always work out in the end, right? There’s always a rough patch before the path becomes clear,” his eyes stayed on the table as he rehearsed his acceptance of life, “I always end up on top.”

[Wayne isn’t quite sure what to say to some of that, nor is he exactly sure what the reception to his opinion will be. It’s strange hearing a Megamind complain about the Game. Sure, Syx isn’t planning on quitting at present, but with issues like that, it doesn’t sound like a career change is that far off. It also doesn’t sound like a super healthy relationship.]

[Turning his back to the pair so that they can’t see is his mask slips, he sets about making up his own plate of pancakes consisting only of blueberry pancakes.] Have you guys considered talking things out? If both your professional lives and your personal lives aren’t going as smoothly as they were before, it might be best to try to figure out what changed or what you can change. I’ll admit that I’m no expert on dating Megamind, but I do know a few things and, well, I’ve also been getting some… perspective on various matters.

“Talking is good,” Harrison agreed, gesturing with his fork before stabbing another bite of pancake barely visible under the pile of whipped cream.

“Communication is important in relationships.  But if he’s going to be a jerk, there are plenty of other heros in the sky.  You can always try battling with another Metro Man or one of the city’s other costumed super types.

See how he likes you playing the game with someone else.  I could probably put a good word in for you with the best Metro Man in town,” he drawls, winking at Wayne.  There had been had several long talks with his mate about Syx before this meeting and knew that Wayne would love to battle the new blue villian…. partially to defend the city and partially as a sort of foreplay.

Syx hunched his shoulders as he chewed on his lower lip, “I don’t need to prompt any more jealousy from Wayne. He’s jealous enough as it is,” he sighed and poked his pancake again, “I have fought other heroes… but it… wouldn’t be the same,” he wasn’t sure how he even felt about staging a battle that was outside of ‘the game’.

“And Wayne doesn’t want to talk. He shuts down every time I try,” he continued bitterly, finding it easier to talk as he kept going, “I ruined everything by kissing him. I should have known he’d just turn into the same boy he was in the shoolyard again,” Syx closed his eyes, swallowing down the swelling emotions, “Too good to last.”

“What? No, evil gods no, of course not,” Syx waved his fork, “But there really isn’t any point in the game anymore is there?” he shrugged and sat back just fidgetting with his fork. He hadn’t really even been able to talk much to Minion about this because of their house guest.

Chewing on his lower lip Syx continued, “Wayne’s been lax on the hero thing lately… and I’ve been too busy with Anna to do any grandstanding or big plans… and well… everything’s changed now… With the affair, I can just go over and see him… he’s already my… lover? he doesn’t have to be my nemesis… but it was rather fun, you know? The threat of getting caught when we got a little too hot and heavy in the fights,” he chuckled, he still wasn’t sure how they never got caught sucking each other off inside the Equestrinator, “But now…”

Syx stabbed his pancakes violently, making a mess of them sullenly, “Now he’s just angry or sad all the time and I can’t do anything about it. And it’s just not fun anymore. And god I just want the old days back,” he squeezed his eyes tight, taking a shaky breath, “Miss Ritchi… I’ll miss- …she’ll be thrilled by the news I’m sure. Won’t have me messing up her life plans anymore. AND I’ll be able to focus more without the distraction anyway!” he ranted.

Harrison breathed a sigh of relief…. and then was surprised by it.  He’d never thought much of the villain lifestyle, his friendship with the other Megamind notwithstanding.  But Syx as a villain just made sense, even if it was mostly a showboat act.  The other blue man just seemed so perfectly suited for it.  He smiled and leaned in to give the other blue man a kiss on the cheek.

“Don’t scare me like that!” he chides, his voice a playful tease.  “I don’t know what I would do without my overlord.”  Going back to his own plate of breakfast, Harrison picks up a bacon strip and dredges it through whipped cream before he takes a bite.

“I’m sure Roxanne misses you too,” he says.  “Maybe she doesn’t miss the rope burn….. but then again I don’t claim to know her kinks.  Girly’s wife certainly seems to like it,” he adds with a wink.

Syx blushed hotly, the fact that a version of him had hooked up with Roxanne hadn’t escaped him. He still found the idea that she could possibly want him baffling. Shrugging the thought off he went back to his food.

“She’ll miss the work perks most but I’m sure I can still coordinate a bit of mayhem for her now and again. Not that it’ll help with everything, but we all knew they wouldn’t keep her as a reporter forever. I’ll… have to give her a heads up, though, make sure she has time to prepare. Made one last big show if Wayne’s up for it…” he rubbed his large forehead with a sigh, “I’m sure I’ll be doing all the work for no pleasure, but we made such good nemeses… it deserves a proper send-off.”
