{{ Belle/Bluebell is feeling very lonely cuz her only ship is in hiatus for the time being. So if anyone wants to do shippy things, Belle would be very excited for the attention. So… Uh, there was a “if you were my s.o.” meme? Maybe I should try and find that for her. }}

Not Allowed

Haylee’s life was one that thrived on routine, something she insisted to keep a sense of normalcy in her when everything else would fall apart in an instant. Moving from town to town, never staying long enough to make friends by her own design. Sure, if she actually tried and talked to people, she would make friends, would be able to have some kind of connection with people, but the fact of the matter was, was her own paranoia in everything prevented her. She kept what she thought to be a healthy distance from anybody and everybody, unaware that such a thing would make her starved for any kind of interaction, even if such a thought terrified her.

It was because she was so insistent on keeping to herself, that she didn’t really pay much attention to what was around her as she got into the locker rooms, making sure to keep her eyes averted from everybody else’s as she concentrated on slowing her breathing down after her typically hard workout. It wasn’t likely a good thing that she pushed herself as hard as she did, as often as she did.. but feeling that exhaustion in her body was familiar, almost comforting in a manner that she didn’t even think about.

Walking towards the showers to wash away the sweat that continued to run down the strong columns of her back, her entire body glistening with sweat, she wasn’t entirely aware of everything going on even if she did hear the raised voices. She had always been good at managing to keep to herself, keeping out of other people’s business. She didn’t want to get involved, didn’t want to make herself known…

But when the blue haired person made that panicked noise and jerked from whatever was happening, Haylee couldn’t just turn a blind eye anymore. Feeling a pit rise in her stomach, she quickly moved forward, lips pressed together in a thin line with her displeasure, enough emotion rising through her to have a flicker of it in the false color of her green eyes… but not enough to truly break through the almost doll-like appearance of her. Rather than physically pulling the woman away from the other, Haylee placed herself between Bell and her tormentor, hands already fisted in case she would need to defend herself.

“That’s enough…” she urged, her heart pounding in her chest despite the way she held herself in preparation. She was fairly well known in this gym, enough so for the woman to hesitate when she saw Haylee. The woman with vibrant red hair didn’t make it a secret that she knew mixed martial arts, practicing it every single day in the gym they were in now.

The bullies had no desire to face off with the woman they’d regularly seen doing the routines Haylee did. They backed off, but not without parting shots, “Well I guess now we know why she looks like that. I should have known a real woman wouldn’t have those arms,” they dismissed at Haylee, “The freaks all grouping together.”

The other woman thrust her chin up, “Don’t even think about ever coming in here again you sick fucks! I’m reporting you right now. Management will ban your ass!” as they left, Belle could still hear their voices as they called her a guy as they complained to each other.

Sobbing into her knees, she bit into her finger hard, rocking in place. She needed to dress, needed to move. But she couldn’t. She wanted to scream, but she forced it inside. Even breathing was hard enough. Too much. It was all too much.

Minion swirled around in his tank, disoriented, “Sir? Miss?”

He’d been up far too late into the night himself on his guilty pleasure the early final fantasy games. He never quite knew when to put the game down so he only let himself play when there weren’t any evil plans in the near future. The shouting and commotion had roused him, but it had taken far to long to actually get his robotic limbs moving.

As it was, Minion didn’t know what he was looking at. Seeing Anna comforting a strange woman and his Sir looking very distressed, Minion looked between them and started heading towards his Sir with a confused frown.

“Wh- Minion!” Syx shouted in panic, reaching out towards his brother, “That’s nOT ME!”

“Uhhh, Sir?” the hench-fish squawked, looking around the room in growing distress.

In her state, Minion’s appearance doesn’t make Veda any more comfortable. Shying away even with Anna trying to help, she finds herself unable to focus on any of the group for very long, switching between the three every few seconds to try and figure out what was going on.

“I- you have-.” But of course he did, some small part of her reminds, a part that was easy to ignore right now.

Keeping her arms around her mate in female form, Anna ran her hands up and down his spine in an effort to keep her highly energized love calm. She knew her own calm nature and her ability to stay calm in many situations would be what would hopefully be able to get them all through this. Though unfortunately Syx had spoken and Minion had acted before she could actually say anything to de-escalate the situation before it even started to begin with. By now, one would think that she would be used to the fast pace that everything seemed to take from time to time in this area… but for now she merely sighed some and pressed a lingering kiss to the temple of her mate’s head.

“Minion, there has been some kind of accident. Syx and … “ she trailed off, looking to Veda now as she realized that she didn’t truly know her name. “I’m sorry.. what’s your name?” she prompted, motioning towards Veda where she sat in Syx’s body.

Minion spun in his tank, blinking his big brown eyes, “Holowatch?” he tried hopefully, maybe there had been a malfunction… both sets of eyes were green… he squinted at the not-Sir… no those were definitely the right eyes. What was going on here?

Syx pressed himself into Anna and drew in a tight breath, “Minion,” he felt so weak and helpless, “I need you?”

Despite his confusion, Minion responded to the plea. His large furry arms wrapping around both Anna and true-Sir, “It’s all right, Sir. We’re home, Sir. Everything will be better in the morning, you’ll see.”

They were words he’d said so often, like a ritual.

so much of this movie is Megamind attempting to re-frame his history in a way that makes it less horrific.

‘clearly it was time to move on’ he says as his homeworld is pulled into a black hole and he’s sent alone into the universe.

‘no big deal’ he says as the golden pod knocks him off course and sends him into a prison instead of a family.

‘I loved it’ he says about his career in supervillainy as the prison bus pulls away from the schoolhouse and child!Megamind’s face crumples.

‘things could be a lot worse’ he tells himself as he’s falling to his death.

and it is only at this point, when he is falling to his death, that he is finally like

‘no. no they really can’t’

‘things can’t get any fucking worse’

‘this is shit. everything is shit’

but

the tone that he admits this in is still so

dismissive

like

yeah, everything is terrible for me, but it doesn’t really matter, because it’s just me and I don’t really matter

Megamind is a natural pessimist clinging desperately to false optimism as a coping mechanism

it’s not a good coping mechanism, really.

but it’s what he’s got to work with.
