Victor picked at his food sullenly, face twisting up, “What’s else it supposed to mean? Everything was great and the the WORLD ENDED and it turned out my parents hate each other and are apparently super villains? Because that’s a thing?” he threw up and hands and glared at Lucy, “ You’re blue. You tell me why everything is fucked to hell.”

“How should I know?” Lucy asks, sounding exasperated with the insistent assumption on Victor’s part. Wanting to get back to what she was doing but for now still stuck in the conversation.

“You’re useless then,” Victor accused, arms crossed. Kicking the table leg, the angry teen asked, “Got a name or you don’t know that either?”

Sitting abruptly at the table across from her, Victor lifted his chin, “My Dad’s blue you know,” well who would know, but they should know damnit!

“Why. Are. You?” he enunciated slowly. These were things he needed to know. It was hard enough with everything so different. Having to change schools. Losing… god damnit! More  B L U E  strangeness was just going to make everything weird!

Great, whoever this was wasn’t going away. Scowling, Lucy sets the papers she’d tugged free next to her tray on the table, partly tucking them underneath the plastic afterward. “Good for you.” she mutters, drumming her fingers on the table.

“I don’t know, same reason you’re not?” she snarks back, looking around as if waiting for someone to provide her an out of the situation.

Victor twitched his ears, the black cat ears on his head moving forward and back with the twitching of his eye, “No I don’t knoooooow. No one tells me anything hu-elp-fuuul around here,” his arms crossed as he hunched his shoulder’s stubbornly staring at her, jaw set, “How should I know why I’m not blue! I didn’t even have fucked up ears until the whole damned universe turned on it’s damned head!”

A sarcastic snort of laughter and Lucy rolls her eyes. “They’re not that weird.” The prospect of whoever this was having been blue-skinned before doesn’t escape her notice, directing an examining look toward Victor.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“YOU! Why are you BLUE?!” Victor shouted, staring straight at the strange blue child. And THEN the d a r e d to turn away?

“Heeeeeeey! I’m talking to you!” Baligerantly Victor vaulted the table and slammed his hand down, facing the BLUE. Demanding attention.

Jumping when Victor’s hands hit the table, loudly, heads are turning when Lucy again looks up. Green eyes narrowed, not appreciating the choice of topic, she’s making it rather clear that she’s not happy with what was going on.

“Yeah, you are. Why?” the teenager snaps in return, pulling some of the spread-out papers away from Victor’s hands, having to tug on one of them rather forcefully.

Victor thrust his chin up as he marched through the doors to the cafeteria. THIS finally was RIGHT and NORMAL! The way things were supposed to be. None of the insane bullshit super villains and super heroes and his parents suddenly hating each other when THEY WERE OBVIOUSLY SUPPOSED TO BE IN LOVE. Because that was how the world was SUPPOSED TO WORK.

GOD!

Why was it so fucking hard! Life was so perfect before! Well, it wasn’t, but at least it was the correct sort of not right. Now he couldn’t even go mope in his room about how his parents didn’t get him because his grandfather! and he HAD a GRANDFATHER? Would just burst in and start sharing music with him! The nerve! How was he supposed to be a moody teen with a happy purple man singing with him!?

Huffing angrily, Victor plated up his food and went to find a seat alone… only to spot BLUE!

“AAAHHHHH!” Victor pointed spastically at the Blue child sitting in the cafeteria, jogging over quickly, “YOU!”

He’d never even seen another blue person besides Dad and here this person was! Making his school! Not normal! and graaaaahhhhhh!!! He wasn’t sure how to feel about this.

Papers spread out in front of her, Lucy had only been half-paying-attention to her food. If she added something on here and took this off, maybe this would work… or so she hoped, not having gotten beyond the theoretical stage on her current project and not wanting this one to blow up in her face immediately. Hearing someone screaming and the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps jars her concentration, looking around the cafeteria blearily until refocusing, seeing just who had yelled and fixing them with a look of confusion.

Nobody she’d seen before, their sudden focus on her didn’t make sense. Still she shies away mentally, not looking forward to the confrontation.

“YOU! Why are you BLUE?!” Victor shouted, staring straight at the strange blue child. And THEN the d a r e d to turn away?
