Feeling a sense of relief, Syx went back to his food. It was a wonderful to not be alone in this matter, to have more people who understood relationships, especially odd ones. Often his Uncles advice was… suspect or unhelpful and Minion had less experience than Syx did when it came to relationships.

Mouth full, Syx choked at Harrison’s topic change. Thumping his chest with a sputter, “Ah… I… okay?” he should have known this would come up… but he’d never talked villainy with Wayne outside of their slowly setting up the rules they’d abide by, “I could run down the rules of the game and villains code? I had a similar discussion with uh… Girly?” he looked to Harrison for confirmation on the nickname for the female Megamind, “when I first got here. Otherwise, if there’s something more you need to know…”

It was one thing to mention the rest of his business with Harrison, but he was suddenly incredibly self-conscious about speaking about his work as Mr. Blue with a Wayne. He offered up a somewhat nervous smile, “I’d like to hear about how your ‘game’ differs from mine as well, if it does, that is. Girly gave me the impression things were very similar for her, but I know she’s a hero now… which is frankly baffling…”

[Unlike Syx, Wayne only tenses slightly at the abrupt and blase way that Harrison switches subjects. The man is great at business, but does not understand the intricate steps of the Game. You don’t just ask a villain how they plan to villain in your city. Negotiations should involve a mixture of threats, flattery, boasting, word play, and maybe some light flirting. Harrison’s method seems very much like smooshing two people’s faces together and expecting it not to be awkward.]

[It’s quite entertaining to hear his nickname for the female Megamind from someone who is nearly a stranger. It makes Wayne briefly wonder what she thinks of the nickname spreading so widely; if she approves or if she’s just irritated with him for ignoring her real name. Maybe he would remember to ask her some day.]

[Holding his chin in thought, Wayne considers how to answer. Sure, he is less worried about this Megamind being a serious danger, but that doesn’t mean that he really trusts the man yet.] Well, I’m sure that there are some variations if for no reason other than how messed up this city is. For example, many locations have duplicates and you might not always end up in the right place. I don’t know if you have a Lair in this dimension, but if you do, it’s probably in the same place as Girly’s Lair and my Megamind’s Lair. So there is a fair chance that I could go to visit her and accidentally end up at your Lair instead. I’ll pretend that I didn’t see anything and you will, hopefully, not let your brainbots maul my cape.

Beyond courtesies like that… for the most part, I am the lead hero of the city. Not so much because of any bossiness or bullying, but because I can keep a better tab on the entire city and can correspond with many of the supervillains.

[He runs a hand through his uncoifed hair and sighs.] Which brings me to the next part. There are a few elements here that are beyond my control. Before all of this dimensional nonsense, I had no trouble driving unsavory villains and heroes out of my city, but now there are a few persons I cannot remove for various reasons. Some of them I leave so that I can keep a leash on them and some I simply do not have the ability to drive away permanently. Most of the supervillains here have limits that I am comfortable with, but some of the rogue elements, demons and other magical beings, are beyond my control. I’ve got logic and strength on my side, but I can’t go toe to toe with a djinn and expect to win. You say you know some magic, which means you might have better luck than me. However, that means that you and I will have to discuss who you are attempting to drive out.

Syx nodded along as Wayne spoke, “Mine and Girl’s lairs are in different locations but likely only because I move mine regularly. Her’s is in a location I’ve considered in the past. I know what you mean about things being out of sort several of my…” he trailed off and fidgeted before admitting as he looked away from Wayne, “Several of the businesses I protect or have sponsored don’t exist anymore. It’s frustrating. She told me about the duplicate Doom Syndicate. Mine use magic, that’s the reason I have any experience at all,” he sighed and rubbed his face.

“Demons… I know that Psycho Delic had a run-in a while back with a demon but little more. Djinn and magic-anon and all this nonsense? It’s already giving me a headache,” he stared into his drink, “I… don’t think my Wayne is going to be much help in all this… he’s… slowed down his number of patrols…”

[Wayne can tell through their bond that Harrison has at least partly figured out what he’s thinking due to the mild amount of disapproval. At least Harrison isn’t telling him no. That means that either Harrison agrees with his point of view to some degree or, at least, doesn’t seem to think that it will be a disaster.]

[Syx’s question has him pausing with a forkful of pancakes halfway to his mouth. Wayne grins back at Syx, though his is less innocent than the villain’s.] He doesn’t have to, but I’m pretty sure I can persuade him to listen. I’ve talked sense into another version of myself once before. So what’s another?

“Excellent,” Harrison replied with a grin.  Syx was happy.  Wayne was happy.  Okay, Syx’s Wayne might end up getting punched in the face, but if he truly was behaving as Syx said, that might not be a bad thing.  As long as Wayne didn’t want to punch Syx in the face…..

“So now that that’s settled, lets talk shop.  I think Wayne should hear about your approach to villainy in Metro City,” he prompted, looking pointedly at his mate.  They were going to have to discuss business sooner or later and Harrison would rather just get it out of the way.

Feeling a sense of relief, Syx went back to his food. It was a wonderful to not be alone in this matter, to have more people who understood relationships, especially odd ones. Often his Uncles advice was… suspect or unhelpful and Minion had less experience than Syx did when it came to relationships.

Harrison set down his fork and without hesitation, leaned his head against Syx’s and wrapped an arm around the other man’s waist.  “I’m sure it will all work out,” he says, shifting to give the other blue man a brief kiss on the top of his head as he snuggles him close.  “My father always said destiny was the path we created for ourselves.  Give both of you some time to adjust to this new role…. and a new Metro City.”

[Considering that this is a villain Megamind, ‘on top’ is definitely not the way to predict how things will go. Still, he can’t help but want to help this clearly depressed Megamind.]

If that doesn’t work, I can always have a talk with him. Just because won’t let you in, doesn’t
mean he can keep me out. [There is a flicker of red in his eyes again.
While Wayne really does want to help Syx, there is admittedly also a
large part of him that is purely spoiling for a real fight. He knows
himself well enough to know that this other Metro Man probably isn’t going listen to him without having some sense knocked into the guy first.]

Harrison isn’t sure if Syx catches that flicker of red in Wayne’s eyes or if he would even know what it means if he did.  But Harrison knows exactly what it means and gives his mate a wary look.  He’s not sure this situation would be improved by punching things, but that is his mates m.o.  And he’s secretly pleased that his mate sees Syx as someone to protect.  That probably means he doesn’t see him as a threat.  He keeps his head leaned against Syx’s but picks up his fork in the other hand and continues to make work on his breakfast.

Feeling soft and small in Harrison’s arms, Syx nods, “…create for ourselves…” it was a wonderfully optimistic thought, but you could only expand so far outside of the whole you were dropped into. He knew what he was. They only thing he could be. What he had to be. It wasn’t like he didn’t have fun with it. He’d made it his. Made it enjoyable. It was who he was.

Rising a bit from cuddling against Harrison to look at Wayne, he could only blink with a slow growing smile as the thought settled, “Yeah. Yeah! He’d surely listen to you! He’d have to, right?”

Good Morning Sunshine

dark-blue-mondays:

[From how Syx was acting earlier, Wayne doubts that the other man would consider giving up on the other Metro man. It’s just not in blue people to be quitters like that. And, while he would love to have an excuse to battle Syx, it just wouldn’t seem right to do so for the express purpose of making another version of himself jealous.]

[Wayne’s eyes flicker red momentarily. He well remembers who and what he used to be as a child. He was a jerk and a bully and thoroughly insecure.] This might be presumptuous of me to say, but have you considered that he is scared? My defense when I was a kid was to lash out at certain targets when I was afraid. I know that that is largely what caused my Megamind to become a villain. I was afraid of what his obvious alienness mess up in my life, so I painted a target on his back.

“Well whatever his reasons, it sounds like someone needs to shape up.  You could absolutely do better.  There are plenty of other fish in the sea, hell, there are plenty of other Waynes in town if that’s your type,” Harrison said blithely.  He reached over and gave Syx’s knee a supportive squeeze. “You’re a real catch – cute, sexy, smart, and far more well adjusted than one might think given your choice of profession.  If he doesn’t appreciate you, fuck him.”

“Does it really change anything if he is?” Syx answered Wayne, “He won’t talk to me… and… I can’t…”  -survive being hurt again-  “So maybe he is. But I don’t know how to help him and I’m not some- some- toy! to be coveted and kept.”

“If… if he can’t share… maybe he just… can’t have me,” Syx swallowed, but that went both ways. If Wayne couldn’t have him… he couldn’t have Wayne either. Making an exasperated sound syx covered his face, all the thoughts that had been churning in his head were leaking out and finding voice. He didn’t really want to end things with Wayne, did he?

Looking up at Harrison, he didn’t even know what to say. A different Wayne? He knew that a threesome would involve Harrison’s mate… but… replacing Wayne? He… he couldn’t…

Slumping to lean his head on Harrison’s shoulder, Syx sighed, “I’m not ready to make a decision yet… Things always work out in the end, right? There’s always a rough patch before the path becomes clear,” his eyes stayed on the table as he rehearsed his acceptance of life, “I always end up on top.”

Good Morning Sunshine

dark-blue-mondays:

[Wayne isn’t quite sure what to say to some of that, nor is he exactly sure what the reception to his opinion will be. It’s strange hearing a Megamind complain about the Game. Sure, Syx isn’t planning on quitting at present, but with issues like that, it doesn’t sound like a career change is that far off. It also doesn’t sound like a super healthy relationship.]

[Turning his back to the pair so that they can’t see is his mask slips, he sets about making up his own plate of pancakes consisting only of blueberry pancakes.] Have you guys considered talking things out? If both your professional lives and your personal lives aren’t going as smoothly as they were before, it might be best to try to figure out what changed or what you can change. I’ll admit that I’m no expert on dating Megamind, but I do know a few things and, well, I’ve also been getting some… perspective on various matters.

“Talking is good,” Harrison agreed, gesturing with his fork before stabbing another bite of pancake barely visible under the pile of whipped cream.

“Communication is important in relationships.  But if he’s going to be a jerk, there are plenty of other heros in the sky.  You can always try battling with another Metro Man or one of the city’s other costumed super types.

See how he likes you playing the game with someone else.  I could probably put a good word in for you with the best Metro Man in town,” he drawls, winking at Wayne.  There had been had several long talks with his mate about Syx before this meeting and knew that Wayne would love to battle the new blue villian…. partially to defend the city and partially as a sort of foreplay.

Syx hunched his shoulders as he chewed on his lower lip, “I don’t need to prompt any more jealousy from Wayne. He’s jealous enough as it is,” he sighed and poked his pancake again, “I have fought other heroes… but it… wouldn’t be the same,” he wasn’t sure how he even felt about staging a battle that was outside of ‘the game’.

“And Wayne doesn’t want to talk. He shuts down every time I try,” he continued bitterly, finding it easier to talk as he kept going, “I ruined everything by kissing him. I should have known he’d just turn into the same boy he was in the shoolyard again,” Syx closed his eyes, swallowing down the swelling emotions, “Too good to last.”

“What? No, evil gods no, of course not,” Syx waved his fork, “But there really isn’t any point in the game anymore is there?” he shrugged and sat back just fidgetting with his fork. He hadn’t really even been able to talk much to Minion about this because of their house guest.

Chewing on his lower lip Syx continued, “Wayne’s been lax on the hero thing lately… and I’ve been too busy with Anna to do any grandstanding or big plans… and well… everything’s changed now… With the affair, I can just go over and see him… he’s already my… lover? he doesn’t have to be my nemesis… but it was rather fun, you know? The threat of getting caught when we got a little too hot and heavy in the fights,” he chuckled, he still wasn’t sure how they never got caught sucking each other off inside the Equestrinator, “But now…”

Syx stabbed his pancakes violently, making a mess of them sullenly, “Now he’s just angry or sad all the time and I can’t do anything about it. And it’s just not fun anymore. And god I just want the old days back,” he squeezed his eyes tight, taking a shaky breath, “Miss Ritchi… I’ll miss- …she’ll be thrilled by the news I’m sure. Won’t have me messing up her life plans anymore. AND I’ll be able to focus more without the distraction anyway!” he ranted.

Harrison breathed a sigh of relief…. and then was surprised by it.  He’d never thought much of the villain lifestyle, his friendship with the other Megamind notwithstanding.  But Syx as a villain just made sense, even if it was mostly a showboat act.  The other blue man just seemed so perfectly suited for it.  He smiled and leaned in to give the other blue man a kiss on the cheek.

“Don’t scare me like that!” he chides, his voice a playful tease.  “I don’t know what I would do without my overlord.”  Going back to his own plate of breakfast, Harrison picks up a bacon strip and dredges it through whipped cream before he takes a bite.

“I’m sure Roxanne misses you too,” he says.  “Maybe she doesn’t miss the rope burn….. but then again I don’t claim to know her kinks.  Girly’s wife certainly seems to like it,” he adds with a wink.

Syx blushed hotly, the fact that a version of him had hooked up with Roxanne hadn’t escaped him. He still found the idea that she could possibly want him baffling. Shrugging the thought off he went back to his food.

“She’ll miss the work perks most but I’m sure I can still coordinate a bit of mayhem for her now and again. Not that it’ll help with everything, but we all knew they wouldn’t keep her as a reporter forever. I’ll… have to give her a heads up, though, make sure she has time to prepare. Made one last big show if Wayne’s up for it…” he rubbed his large forehead with a sigh, “I’m sure I’ll be doing all the work for no pleasure, but we made such good nemeses… it deserves a proper send-off.”

Now that was a revelation that makes Harrison’s brows shoot up.  His hand stills on Syx’s back but he doesn’t remove it quite yet.  “Are you thinking of retiring from villainy?” he manages to ask, utterly stunned.  Of all the Megaminds he’s met, Syx seemed to be the one who had the best handle on it…..

[Wayne just nods politely, not exactly sure where Syx’s rambling is going. Like Harrison, he is curious to find out what the other alien means. Not wanting to distract, he opts to stay silent and let Harrison take the lead. He can get his own breakfast after this is explained.]

Harrison starts rubbing Syx’s back for comfort but he’s not sure how to respond.

God their relationship was complex!

While he’s certainly learned a lot about Megaminds and their Metro Mans over the last few years, he came to this planet alone.  Until he moved to Metro City, he’d never met another alien much less grown up with one.  And he’s certainly never spent a lifetime thinking of anyone as flawless.  He looks to Wayne for answers, hoping his level-headed mate will know what to say…..

[By his definition, being able to get through invulnerability at all, however temporarily or lightly, implies a flaw. Clearly Syx doesn’t think so, but Syx also sounds lovesick, so it’s quite possible that the man’s view is skewed. it sounds like Syx sound be giving the other hero a diamond, not comparing the guy to one. It’s tempting to say just that, but it’s not really his place to play matchmaking for a couple he doesn’t know well.]

Oddly enough, my hair is safe from such evil ploys. But I suppose that just further proves the differences between your Metro Man and myself. [Shrugging he gestures to Syx’s abandoned food, including the untouched coffee-cocoa.] There is no use fretting over something that is not an issue and letting in ruin your appetite. But, if you would like information in case it becomes an issue, feel free to ask.

Looking back at the food, Syx nodded. He needed to eat. Hadn’t had nearly enough food while he’d been in prison and the quality of the meals was always horrible anyway. Eating rather mechanically, he paused after a bit to take up his drink. Chugging half of it quickly after he took a steadying breath.

“Well you definitely stand out now,” he offered, trying to get out of his own head, his own thoughts. They spiralled too much. Syx worried his bottom lip, picking up his fork again, he wasn’t even sure what to say anymore. His head spinning. Finally, he managed, “Though even clothed I wouldn’t mistake you for my Wayne. At least domestically. If I fight Metro Man any more I’ll… just have to be more careful about making sure I get the right one… not that… I think that will happen… anymore…”

There was hardly a point to the game now. His energy draining, he started eating again.

Immediately Harrison drops his fork into the pile of whipped cream and reaches out to put a steadying hand on Syx’s silky back. He knows the fear that comes with loving a working hero.

“It’s okay,” Harrison said reassuringly. “Most of the anons are just sadistic pranks and none of those injuries were life threatening.” He doesn’t say anything about Waynes invulnerability being offline for months after Rapunzel’s death or Lady Safeword. Those are Wayne’s stories to tell if he wants. He looks to Wayne hoping his next words will also reassure their guest.

Easy, easy. Not everyone here has dealt with as many of Anon curses as I have. And that includes the heroes. [Wayne is curious about this ‘Anna’s curse’, but now might not be the time to ask about it. Plus Harrison might already know, so he could get his answers without upsetting the other blue man.]

[It’s about then that Wayne realizes he cares. He still might not trust Syx to the same degree that he does his own Megamind, but he trusts him enough not to completely close off reassuring information.] Magic Anon spells are always short term and do not kill or seriously maim. Like Harrison said, they are pranks. And… and to be perfectly honest, all of my most dangerous injuries are because of how my invulnerability works. The claw marks, the puncture mark though my side, the jagged strip on my ribs, the scars on my fist, none of that had to do with magic at all. So, unless your Metro Man has a similar flaw in his invulnerability, he should be fine. Safe.

Frowning lightly, Syx leaned into Harrison’s touch as he listened to their explanation, “Pranks? There’s some sort of twisted god out there fucking with people?” he was too distressed to bother controlling his tongue, the curse slipping out, “What do you mean… flaw? Wayne doesn’t have a weakness, not that I’ve ever found. There are things I’ve found that can temporarily slow him down or disorient him… I’ve made him bald a few time,” he snickered despite himself at the memory, “His hair is far less invulnerable than the rest of him.”

“I’ve never even left a scar of him,” his nemesis had left many of Syx over the years, even if the large man had always regretted it. Just part of the constant imbalance of their relationship. No matter what they were to each other, they were always out of balance, “Wayne is… a flawless diamond… I once thought if I threw myself against him long enough I could… leave a mark? Do something… but I can’t… and I don’t think I ever will,” he found himself admitting softly as he looked away from the others.

Ah the scars, the blue man should have known his mate was talking about his scars.  Harrison doesn’t like what they represent, the moments of fear, pain, weakness, and vulnerability.  But his mate wears them well.

Syx’s anger is also a surprise.  He wouldn’t have thought the other blue man would respond like that, as though Wayne’s scars are some kind of personal affront.  Harrison idelly wonders if this Megamind feels protective of ‘his’ nemesis or if it could be something more….  But again he says nothing.  He wants to see how this will play out.

[The surprise is expected, as is the ‘what’ and the ‘how’, and even
the anger, but he wasn’t expecting it to be a vengeful anger. No, Wayne
had figured, at worst, it would be a jealous anger.]

[He glances
back to gauge Syx’s rage. Shrugging, he stirs the cocoa into the small
amount of coffee in one cup and pours the rest into a second cup. With
both he and Harrison keeping calm about the situation, it will force Syx
to calm down as well.] Most of my scars are because of those pesky
Magic Anons taking my powers for a short time and causing me to fall
through a roof. I rather literally asked for the claw marks. As for the
rest…

[Turning around to bring the two men their mugs, he
exposes more scars. Claw marks on his left arm, thin white scars on his
right arm, and few oddball ones around the edges of his chest.] Well,
life just happens in a city like this.

“Magic?” Syx made a distressed noise in the back of his throat, shaking his head. That could happen? “Oh, evil gods…”

His eyes slid out of focus, “But then Wayne… that could happen to him too…” Syx’s arms wrapped around himself, “That’s not allowed to happen. Not to mine. I couldn’t…” he wouldn’t be able to take it. Not his invulnerable hero, “It’s hard enough with Anna’s curse…” he murmured softly, closing in on himself.
