Roxanne gave a bright laugh, very relaxed around this person who was a total stranger but very familiar despite herself. Her fingers ran over her mic absently as her lips curled into a warm smile, “I do have to say, skipping the ropes was lovely.”

“Oh right, duh,” she chuckled, scoffing at herself. The post-heroic interview. Her cameraman sighed ‘finally’ under his breath. Straightening her shoulders, Roxanne turned to the camera and waited for her cue, “With me is Metro City’s defender, Megamind, who has once again saved our fair city from disaster at the hands the latest round of super powered ruffians.”

She turned back to the heroine, “Megamind, do you think we’ll be seeing more of their like in the future? Should the citizens of Metro City be prepared to see them roaming the streets once more?” Roxanne raised a thin brow, the revolving door of the prison system being an unfortunate reality in the city.

“I imagine it was.” Just based on what she’d heard from the Roxanne she knew, Megamind could guess easily at what a change in pace it was.

Hearing that finally, though, she directs a look of questioning amusement toward the cameraman before returning her attention to this Roxanne. Settling back into her public persona now in order to answer the expected questions.

“If we’re lucky, most likely not.” Though like Roxanne she had some doubts as to how long they would be off the streets. But in the case of them returning, she’d still be here. “If they are, it wont be for long!”

“And I’m sure all of Metro City is as relieved as I am to hear that,” Roxanne smiled sweetly, “With heroes like Megamind here to keep our streets safe, we can all rest easy.”

When she was given the wrap-up signal from the camera man, Roxanne gestured to the site of the battle, “This has been Roxanne Ritchi with Channel 8, live on site of Megamind’s latest victory where cleanup is already underway. When it explodes, where here to give you the scoop.”

Once the camera was off, Roxanne sagged, “That was cheesy, tell me it wasn’t as bad as it sounded?” her eyes wandered back to Megamind, it had been… strange and unnatural to call Megamind the victor and heroic… but really nice too. It felt… right.

“It was quite a shock when I was told to come down here to report on Megamind,” Roxanne laughed easily, “I’ve never seen the action from this angle,” she looked demurely at the heroine, “It was a pleasant change of pace.”

“Well, yes, being on this side of the rope, as it were.” Hearing a similar sentiment from this Roxanne is oddly nostalgic, pulling herself back into focus as Megamind tries to keep from getting lost in the memory from before. Now wasn’t the time. “So I suppose now is the time for more serious questions?”

Brows raising, she honestly looks surprised hearing that. “Well, I would hope so, having several years of practice!” Though it was strange to hear that from Roxanne, and it doesn’t take Megamind that much longer to clue in to a potential reason why. Glancing down again toward the woman’s hands in order to confirm that particular suspicion.

Another new one? Well then.

Noticing Megamind’s eyes drawn to her hands, Roxanne held them up and looked them over in confusion. An eyebrow raised in silent questions after finding nothing strange. Finally it clicks, “Oh! Oh sorry! You thought I was-” she put a hand over her mouth and chuckled in embarrassment, “Afraid not. Mine’s male.”

That explained quite a bit, including the reaction the woman she was talking to had on arriving at first. Even distracted, Megamind had been able to pick up on that. “Unfortunate.” she can’t help but tease. “This all must be a surprise, then.”

Taking a quick up and down examination of the dress Roxanne was wearing, Megamind’s natural bravado kicks in, feeling the need still to show off while in public. “Of course I did,” she exclaims, playing it up for the crowd that was starting to reappear from where they’d hidden when the fight started.

Hearing that Roxanne had been worried, though, she draws it back somewhat. Not yet realizing this one wasn’t wearing the matching ring she’d designed. “I would hope you were.”

Sliding into an easy smirk at the bravado, it reminded her so much of Megamind when things were going his way, “Is the goal always to impress me, then?”

“You make a much better hero than you do a villian,” she ducked her head a bit, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She remembered the cameras and held herself back from saying more, “It’s refreshing.”

Roxane laughed, “Yeah, I could see that,” one hand on her hip as she cocked it. She’d worn a rather flirty dress for the day, a red and white thing that clung to her curves. Her face showed more worry than she’d wanted it to as she admitted, “I was actually scare for you acouple times there.”

It was so different from watching Metro Man fight. Never had she had cause to worry for that invulnerable man’s safety, only that of the civilians that might get caught in the cross fire or hurt by the disaster. She often worried deep down about Megamind getting hurt in his fights, but most of the time when he did it was from his own machines. This was the first time she’d seem Megamind in a fair fight, a real fight. Even if this wasn’t her Megamind, “You kicked their asses good though. I was impressed.”

When Roxanne was told to go downtown and cover the Megamind fight, she’d been flabbergasted. Not that she’d been asked to, but that she hadn’t been kidnapped. At the very least as Hal drove them the the site of the battle in the news van, she was glad the villain was active again. She hated to admit that she’d been growing worried.

For the first time in years, when the camera clicked on, Roxanne was speechless. Her mouth hanging open as she watched Megamind fight off another villain. No… not another villain… Megamind was the… hero? She felt as if her whole world had just tilted on its axis. Hal’s snapping fingers brought her back to reality, “Uh, earth to Roxanne? I mean, like, cameras rolling here.”

Snapping back to the task at hand she launched into routine, mind preparing the Metro Man spiel and on the fly word swapping in Megamind, “This is Roxanne Ritchi reporting live from downtown as Metro City’s defendor, Megamind, battles-”

As she gave her running commentary, she watched the blue hero, wondering just how different this person would be from the one she knew. When the battle was over, Roxanne tucked a strand of hair back behind her ear and approuched with a hesitant smile, “That was an intense fight, huh?”

Coming down from the focus she’d needed during the fight, Megamind at first doesn’t respond to the question. When it sinks in that it had been directed to her, however, she immediately snaps to, looking over only to see Roxanne was the one who had asked.

That was enough to have her looking far less tense than she had to begin with, what would normally be a familiar smirk on her face and de-gun in one hand still at her side. “Nothing I couldn’t handle,” she answers, front of confidence fully in place considering the situation.
