Megamind had been performing a steak-out. Sitting on the roof of a nearby building. He’d had brain bots watching the place and tonight should have been the night. A gang had been planning on moving very dangerous weapons through his city and he could allow that.

The night had dragged on. Too many long nights that he’d been building new machines and tracking this potential shipment. His eyes drooped and he was asleep before he knew it.

He was falling …up… the ground disappearing beneath him until Earth was nothing but a marble in the black inkiness of space. His heart seized. No! Nooo! Not again!

Jerking wildly as he awoke, Megamind blinked in confusion at the face that swam into his vision. The expression making it hard to understand who he was looking at, memories blurring together as he tried to put the right name to the face in his half awake state with heart still hammering, “Wha…?”

Megamind hummed in agreement as he took the paper and slipped it into a hidden pocket. After a moment’s thought, he bit his lips and sighed.

Leaning down he took a pen and drew a sideways 6 a piece of paper so it looked more like as eye. Tapping it he told here, “I can get you a plaque or something, but just put this but in blue somewhere by the entrance or bar. Think of it as one of those security company logos and if someone does rob you, tell me. They won’t do it again.”

Any of the criminals in the area he held knew Mr. Blue/Megamind or would learn that name very fast.

Emma watched him in what it was he did, her head tilting curiously as he drew a 6 onto the piece of paper. She listened quietly as he spoke, nodding slowly to show that she was at least following along despite the time. She slanted a look up at him, examining him with a long look for a moment before taking a deep breath, her fingers closing over the paper.

“..I’ll do that..” she assured him quietly, though couldn’t help but wonder what kind of issues it would bring by having that on her door. She wouldn’t voice those.. she would accept his generosity without complaint. “Thank you.”

Letting out a breath, Megamind nodded, “Your assistance was appreciated,” he was certain he could have gotten it himself, but she had saved him a lot of time and effort.

Smoothing his cape back around him, he headed back toward the door, “Ciao, ciao, I’ll take you over the Hell Cat any day.”

His wide grin at the excitement of getting a clear licence plate number faded slightly at her comment. Narrowing his eyes, he replied, “Careful pussy cat, I know all your weaknesses.”

Not truly brought down he bounced up, clasping his hands together, “Now let’s just hope that they were stupid enough not to use a stolen Van and it’s actually registered to something useful!”

Both brows raised at his statement, looking over at him as her lips twitched just a bit. “…Right. Because I’m so scared…” she drawled. His words had definitely sparked an irritation in her, making it hard to remember that she was supposed to be staying neutral and not trying to piss of super villains.

“Yes.. lets hope your luck keeps going. If they’re stupid enough to get caught on camera, I’m sure they’re the foolish kind all around. Good luck, dude,” She wrote the plate number down for him before closing the computer down entirely

Raising an eyebrow Megamind scooted closer in the chair, noticing her reaction, “Struggling to stay neutral are we?”

Leaning over her shoulder he watched the monitor with an eagle eye. Jabbing at the screen excitedly when some men got out of a truck, “Wait there! Go back!”

Emma slanted a look over at Syx, raising a brow at his statement, “I-” she was cut off as he suddenly moved his hand to point at the screen. She looked forward, quickly pausing the screen, rewinding it slowly before pausing again, going forward just a couple screens until the licence plate was in full view.

“Well there you go, big guy. You have a lead,” She grinned up at him, trying very hard to not gloat.

His wide grin at the excitement of getting a clear licence plate number faded slightly at her comment. Narrowing his eyes, he replied, “Careful pussy cat, I know all your weaknesses.”

Syx idly watched her work the equipment and with a tired sigh, answered, “Guns and weapons. The information I intercepted made it seem either experimental or not entirely normal, but they were using slang lingo I’m not familiar with yet,” maybe Harrison and his husband were right about not doing this alone anymore, “I was hoping to find out what exactly tonight.”

She paused what she was doing to look over at him, the wheels almost visibly turning in her mind. She had heard Sheldon speak about weapons like this before.. perhaps not of these ones specifically, but he didn’t like guns either. She made a low noise in her throat, “..I see,” she murmured.

Not your problem. She had to remind herself of that, pulling up a video, “Got it,” she urged, frowning as she did a slow fast forward of the day to try to get to the truck she had seen.

Cringing at the archaic computer, Syx shook his head in disgusted, “That thing might be better as a paper weight.”

Dropping into the office chair and swiveling around he hedged how much to tell her, but from his experiences between when Anna thought she was this woman and Psycho’s daughter, he knew she could be a player but should be neutral. It would be better to have her on his side, “Someone’s moving serious hardware through the city. Besides stopping it I need to know if it’s just moving through or if someone is going to be starting something in Metrocity.”

“I’m not all that inclined to argue with you over the qualities of my electronic devices…” She intoned with flat look and a voice to match. She made quick work to get to the video as he spoke further, her lips thinning as she thought.

“Serious hardware, hm?” she prompted. Her first thought was to try to figure out how to get it to stop, began to work thorugh different scenarios in her mind.. except she didn’t do that kind of thing anymore. She had to remind herself of that.

“What kind of hardware?” She couldn’t help but ask

Syx was beginning to get leery about being locked in a room with the cat eared woman, but she was obviously tired and he still had his de-gun. He kept a careful distance, cape drawn around him, simply memorising everything.

Sitting at the desk, Emma glanced up at Syx a moment with a soft frown, “Well? Sit down, I’ll try to find something,” she urged. Firing up the older computer, she wriggled the mouse around just a bit, tapping the desk impatiently as she does so.

“..What are they putting in those boxes, anwyays?” She prompted, looking to him as she typed in the password without looking

“Mmhmm, for a man who just told me that I didn’t need to bother, you are taking advantage of it,” she said with a raised brow, and as soon as he was close she poked the side of his head. “Come on loser, the stuff is right inside,” She stated, pulling a key from her pocket.

She appraoched the back door, inserting the key and turning the knob.

Megamind smacked her hand away, “Why wouldn’t I use it once it was there?” he glared at the back of her head as he followed. She was starting to remind him more of Lyn then the Emma he knew that had been Anna. Thank god.

She laughed, shaking her head some as she opened the door, “After you,” She mused. As soon as he was through, she followed behind him, locking the door behind her to ensure she didn’t forget later.

“Alright, it’ll be in the office,” she paused to stifle a yawn, her ears hanging off to the side as she did so before she took the lead. Pausing, she took out her keys again, frowning softly as she went to find the key..

“..ALright where the fuck is it..” she murmured, chewing at her lower lip before making a soft noise. “There you are!” she inserted the key in and opened the door for him to go in first

Emma led him down through the building, though she was careful to keep Syx out of her personal loft, she wound up leading him down along the metal fire escape to the ground. Though rather than push the ladder at the bottom down and then going, she jumped down, grabbing hold of a rung and brought it down that way.

Landing with a slight bending of her knees, she looked up at him with a small smile. “Come on. It’ll be in the office inside.”

Syx had come up via the fire escape so he hadn’t been surprised as she led him to it. He wrapped his cape defensively around himself as he followed. Watching her descend the ladder dramatically he sighed, “You didn’t need to do that.”

He’d gotten up originally with a jump off the dumpster and a push off the wall. He was tired enough no to bother with showmanship, however, and simply braced his feet and hands on the sides of the lowered ladder and slid down it.

“..We have security camera’s in the back, for the servers and cooks safety.. I think we might have.. one? Maybe.. fuck I don’t know.. come on, lets go find out,” she urged, turning with a wave of her hand to try to indicate for him to follow.
