Blood and Bonding

Glad for the support he was offering her, Lyn sure as hell wasn’t going to admit such a thing to the man she held a relatively complicated relationship with. Her own arm tightening around her, she merely nodded with a soft sound in the back of her throat as he gave her whatever excuse he gave her. She at least kept up some of her appearance as she glanced over at him, merely grunting as he led them out into the hallway.

“Don’t worry…” She murmured, keeping her voice down. She used his support to keep herself more stabilized than what she could have accomplished on her own, maneuvering through the hallways with him quietly. It was quite honestly slow going, the active guards that were moving about that hadn’t been harmed by her firewall racing about to try to find them… and to no avail. It wasn’t all that much of a secret, that should Syx and Lyn both find themselves on the same side, there wasn’t a whole lot that they couldn’t accomplish. Though it generally took something as large as this to get them to stop bickering to begin with.

It seemed to take ages before they finally got outside of the prison building itself, the sunlight causing Lyn to squint a bit with an unhappy noise. “…Almost there,” she breathed, more than ready to get the hell out of there and get to her Dad…

“Just keep your head down,” Syx hissed softly, he recalled all too easily that the towers had snipers. Normally he felt safe that they’d be using the tranquilizers… but with Lyn by his side… that was now questionable. Hopefully, the invisibility field would keep doing its trick.

Another patrol swept through as they had to freeze motionless and pray, this one far too close. Syx worried most about the blood, the dogs might track that.

His arms pressed against Lyn, mostly to hold her up rather than to hold her back, Syx’s stomach dropped out. A guard looked right at them! Or at the vague shimmery outline. Every muscle in his body tightened, praying Lyn still had enough in her to fight the group in her state. He could at most fight two at a time if he was lucky, this group was too big. Just FUCK!

They the guard looked away, pointing the opposite direction to his fellows. As the group moved away and the hammering of his heart in his ears faded, Syx realized he recognized that man. One of the guards on his payroll. Oh, thank fuck! Sagging with relief, he motioned for Lyn to move again.

Bringing them to crouch right next to the first fence, the blue man whispered into his companion’s ear, “Right here, just one more fence after this,” he bit his lip, “Can you manage the sewers… no, no, nevermind. We can use the second extraction point. Walking further would be better than ladders…” and the possibility of her open wounds going septic from the things in the sewers.

Pulling out the package from the safe, Syx moved to kneel by her again, “Shit… that doesn’t look good.”

Scampering over to the Warden’s desk he fished out the first aid kit he knew Daddy kept there. Same place it had always been since he was little. It was hard… not to get lost in nostalgia as long ago as it had been since he’d been in here last.

Returning to Lyn, Syx pulled out the gauze and started handing things to her, “This had best do until we’re out,” with that, he fiddled with the devise and in a moment a fuzzy blur covered his form, “It was my first prototype for invisibility. It’s shit up close but it’s good at a distance. Come on.”

Lyn grumbled unhappily, “Thank ya Captian Fucking-Obvious,” She grumbled, though there wasn’t much heat behind it. She didn’t bother with disinfectant… there wasn’t any time. Instead, she stuffed first one piece of gauze against her wound, packing it in with a low noise of pain that had her breathing shallowly through her nose. Her skin paled a bit more, her eyes closing as she worked at it. She taped it up as best as she could, panting from the effort it took before moving to stand with a low snarling noise, her ears pinned back as she did so. Her tail moved almost dramatically behind her as she forced herself to keep her balance, looking to Syx.

“Right. Good ta know. Lets get tha hell outta here now, yeah?” she urged, licking her dry lips .

“Yeah,” Syx bit his lip, she really didn’t look good. He looped an arm around her and put his shoulder against her to support her weight if she needed it. To hold off any protests, he explained, “We have to touch for it to cover both of us.”

“Come on,” he peeked out the door and slowly edged out, “Stay as quiet as possible, as long as we stick to empty hallways none of the cameras should see us. We get close to the fence and you melt us a hole through it.”

“Well fuckin excuse me for being shot. Next time I’ll just let your skinny ass be tha one ta be shot,” She growled as she was deposited onto the couch. She made a low noise of pain, the bullet lodged in her shoulder preventing her body from beginning to heal and stop the bleeding. Damn it.

“While yer in there, get something ta pack tha wound, yeah?” she prompted, her voice gravelly from pain and irritation. She watched the door with a feral expression like the predator she was, her lips twisted into a snarl of both anger and pain.

She would be damned if they would be trapped in this fucking place. If she had to burn the entire place to the ground to get out, she would.

“Ha! Good thing too fuzz brain, you’d-” Syx grunted under her weight “-a horrible hero.”

“NOPE!” he shouted at the wall of fire appeared, “That is essential for the escape plan. Even if my damn tool went and got herself shot, I still need you,” he certainly wasn’t going to admit any sort of feelings toward the woman.

He blamed his biology. The sex had screwed everything up in his head. It was less that he’d stopped hating her and more that… he couldn’t picture his life without her a part of it. She was his now, for better or worse.

Tightening his arms around her side, Syx took a deep breath and readied himself, “Alright, buckle up and here we go!”

Dragging her with him, Syx took her good arm and wielded her finger like a gun, knowing full well that wasn’t how that worked but the guards didn’t. Pointing their hands at a hall to the side, he said, “Bang!”

“Ah, fuck you!” She spat out as he called her a tool. She wouldn’t dare admit to him that him dismissing her as something so low wounded her, and more than just her pride. That was easily ignored.. or at least for the most part. Damn it!! Why did things have to be so damn complicated.

She did her best to keep herself moving along with him, the blood from her wound trailing down her body, soaking her clothing that they had put her in. If she would have thought further on the actions they were doing, she probably would have laughed..

As it was, his exclamation was accompanied by a flurry of flames from their hands, though they didn’t burn him in the slightest. It was more difficult without her usual motions, took more concentration.. but it succeeded. The guards yelled out in fear, trying to use their mob shields to protect themselves.. only to have it burn. Emma kept the flames from burning the fools themselves, but it would at least keep them at bay.

It was far less that Syx thought of her as a tool, then it was to mask feelings he hardly wanted to acknowledge himself. The flash of hurt he smelled on her, he quickly tried to bury. There was no time to consider such things while they fought for their freedom.

With the guards distracted by the flames, he pulled her down another corridor. One free blocked gates. His inside man having done his job. Considering the high risk the officer took, Syx would have to compensate him well, his job and more would be lost if he was caught. With the way clear, they entered the office wing. With the ease of memory, he pulled them into the Warden’s office. He would know the way blindfolded.

“We have to be fast. This is going to burn this method in the future. Your bleeding everywhere will let Warden know we were here,” he complained as he dumped Lyn on the couch were daddy had read his stories when he was little. Reaching up he pulled loose the picture of the Metro City Lighthouse to reveal the hidden safe. Within was hidden an item that Warden had confiscated a decade ago. Warden didn’t think his son knew about the stash, but he did. Just saving it for an emergency.

“Keep an eye out,” he ordered as he started cracking the safe.

Lyn growled angrily as Syx pulled at her, making a loud noise of both pain and frustration, “Like fuck I’m a damn hero!” She bit out. His actions didn’t give her much time to find her own footing, stumbling a moment with it, the action forcing her to rely more heavily on his support to continue on.

“Ya need ta go, fuck tard,” she growled, glancing back as the people rounded the corner they just went around. She hissed, her eyes flashing crimson just before the entire opening was consumed in a curtain of black hell fire.

“Ha! Good thing too fuzz brain, you’d-” Syx grunted under her weight “-a horrible hero.”

Her reasoning for doing this was sound. It wasn’t because she liked Syx, it wasn’t because they were in this together, or they were suddenly united under one villain flag. None of that was truly what went through her head. At least not at first.. her sole reasoning? Making sure that at least one of them escaped. She wasn’t entirely sure just how fast it was Syx healed.. but she knew her own ability, knew her own strengths and weaknesses.

The gun shot was loud enough it made her ears ring terribly, the sound of it distracting her momentarily from how her body had jerked as the bullet tore through her shoulder, embedding into her shoulder blade. She fell to the ground, her vision dancing as she lay there stunned. Damn… damn this almost hurt more than when she had been shot in the damn stomach.

She struggled to her feet, her lips twisted into a ferocious snarl, her ebony ears pinned back against her skull as she prepared to at least create more of a diversion to ensure that Syx escaped

His heart was hammering. DAMN THEM for opening fire. He’d been desperate to get out this time. He had a lover waiting at home and the security was so much worse in this new multi-verse prison. So, in the end, the blue super villain had decided to use the fact that they’d also captured the Crimson Fucker as well, to his advantage.

But the fiery hell cat couldn’t stick to the plan! And to make matters worse was now trying to bleed on him.

Growling in frustration, Syx pulled her along, shoving a shoulder under her good one, “If I wanted a damn hero I would have called Metro Man! Get your ass moving in the right direction.”
