Bank Heist

Megamind breathed through his nose, tightening and loosening his fists rhythmically as he worked through the pain, “Now to deal with this mindless imbecile.”

Pushing himself up to a knee, he peeked around the side of the pillar again. The layout was really horrible for a clean shot at the guy… he needed some cover so he could move. Biting his lip, he spun the de-gun’s setting to de-stroy and pointed up, “Stay down.”

Pulling the trigger, the ceiling exploded into a cloud of dust and small debris that rained down. Using the distraction, Megamind sprinted to counter that would give him a cleaner shot at the criminal. Random shot flashed through the dust cloud behind him as the man shot wildly and shouted profanities.

Scarborough shrugged one shoulder, then ducked and covered her head to protect it from the falling debris. She may not be able to feel pain, but she would much rather not have to reattach her own head. Not while in the human world, at least. That would be a bother to explain. So for the moment, following the blue-skinned fellow’s instructions was probably for the best.

With a flash of blue light, Megamind finally managed the shot. Hitting the target, the shooter fell to the ground as a tiny blue cube. Sagging with relief, the blue villain slowly made his way over. Toeing it with his boot, he started giggling, “Ha! How you like tHAT!”

Muttering ‘asshole’ under his breath, he turned his gun to de-coupage and coated it in glue so it couldn’t easily be re-hydrated. That complete he added a note saying “I’m the bad guy!” then started looking around for around for an exit. Just in case the cops decided to arrest him too. There was no trust between him and the badges.

Megamind gritted his teeth, it was less surprise at pyromancy and more that with two fire wielding rivals, he’d had many a poor experience with fire. Grunting and squeezing his eyes shut, he tried not to jerk too much under the burning needle. The pain a white thing in his mind. Eyes watering when it was removed, he shuddered and focused on breathing. The scar would be ugly, but he had lots of scars…

Spitting out the cape, he managed a grumbled, “Thanks,” through the pain.

Scarborough smiled, ignoring how hot the needle still was and running it between her forefinger and thumb to clean it of blood, then returned it to her pocket. “You’re welcome. It’s the least I could do for someone who threw himself in front of a bullet for me.”

“Oh evil gods,” Megamind flinched back, hissing when his back hit the wall, “Fine, fine.”

Whole body tense, he folded up a wad of cape, “Get it over with quick,” he spat before shoving it in his mouth and biting down hard. Breathing through his nose as he scrunched his eyes shut and braced for the pain.

Scarborough arched an eyebrow. “You’d think someone with as colourful an appearance as you wouldn’t be so easily surprised by pyromancy,” she mused, but she did as he’d asked and pressed the red-hot needle into the bullet wound.

“I thought you said you weren’t a medic,” Megamind grumbled, but he moved the cape aside to let her see the wound, “Think it went through. Sounded like a high caliber.”

Gritting his teeth as he breathed through his nose he added, “Try anything weird and I am holding a gun.”

“I’m not.” Scarborough took a closer look and nodded. “Hm…I think you’re right about that. One less thing to worry about.” She giggled lightly at his warning. “Well, weird for you and weird for me are probably two very different concepts. However,” she said, pulling out a metal tapestry needle from her pocket, “all I was going to do is cauterize the wound.” Focusing, she summoned a flame and heated the needle until it glowed red.

“Oh evil gods,” Megamind flinched back, hissing when his back hit the wall, “Fine, fine.”

“Fuuu-” Megamind hissed and slid back down the pillar, “For all the stupid things,” but the truth was that the madman was hold up and wasn’t moving anytime soon.

Blowing out a breath, Megamind looked at her suspiciously and pressed a gloved hand over the wound, “Very well, what are you proposing Miss…?”

“Scarborough.” She knelt beside him to get a closer look at the wound. “And I can get that bullet out and stop the bleeding, but you’re going to want to hold very still.”

Megamind grunted, “When that-” he bit back the curse word harshly. He tried very hard to not be that kind of villain no matter how filthy his mouth in private, “When that fiend is taken out.”

Damn, he just needed the asshole to peek out from behind the bulletproof glass of the bank teller window. But no way the fucker would now. Growling at the world in general and why was he THE VILLAIN doing this instead of Metro Man… one was on paternity leave and the other had been a no show lately… That left scant few heros around this messed up version of his city.

Swearing under his breath, Megamind pushed himself up through the pain and edged to the side of the marble pillar, “Just stay low.”

Scarborough arched a brow. “I’m no specialist or medic, but I’m pretty sure stopping the bleeding first would be a better idea than waiting until you’ve dealt with the shooter. You’re already losing a lot of blood.” Besides, it wasn’t like she’d be hurt if she got shot. Only if Branwenn was hurt. But the raven was smarter than to stay within the line of fire.

Scarborough probably shouldn’t have been in that city. Not at this point in the year, anyway. But that didn’t stop her. She’d always been a good deal too curious. She got it from her father. So when she saw the cause of the panic spreading through the people running about, instead of running away, she crept closer. Maybe she’d see something she could use next Halloween.

Of course, she didn’t expect to be grabbed and pulled behind a pillar. Doing what rag dolls do best, she let herself go limp so the blue-skinned man–really, his skin was only a few shades darker than what normally passed for skin on her mother and herself–wouldn’t have to deal with much resistance on her part. Branwenn had disappeared when the shooting started, but Scarborough wasn’t in any pain, so she assumed the raven was unharmed. Most likely, she’d just been startled and was watching from a safe distance.

“I’m all right,” Scarborough said, shaking her head. “But you’re not. That looks painful.” There was a good deal of crimson staining the man’s side just below the bottom edge of his ribcage. “I can stop the bleeding for you. It’ll probably hurt a good deal more than it does now, though.” She’d never tried using her pyromancy to cauterize a wound, never having actually been hurt before, so she really didn’t know. Of course, being a rag doll, she didn’t have nerve endings with which to feel pain, either.

Megamind grunted, “When that-” he bit back the curse word harshly. He tried very hard to not be that kind of villain no matter how filthy his mouth in private, “When that fiend is taken out.”

|| @scarboroughskellington || took a bullet ||

The day had not been going well. Made all the worse by the fact that some fucking clown covered in ridiculous makeup was trying to set up in his city. Megamind didn’t mind sharing his city with other super villains as long as they respected the rules. Villainy with class and standards. This fucker, he just wanted to watch the world burn.

The problem was, Megamind hadn’t had time to prepare. If he had, he would have brought a fleet of brain bots and bigger guns. Instead, he’d blundered into an in progress bank heist with nothing but his de-gun and a few gadgets. This was a disaster. He’d hoped to stall while the back-up he called Minion for arrived, but the idiot opened fire on him. Megamind wasn’t even a hero! He was a villain! What the hell was he even doing?

Then the idiot started threatening the bystanders. Megamind had just needed one clear shot, but the obstructions made it impossible. Bullets would pass through the wood and glass but anything he fired would take out the barrier first. By the time of his second shot, Megamind would have lost the element of surprise. Time wasn’t on his side. The impatient idiot opened fire.

Jumping up, Megamind grabbed the girl, spinning and pulling her with him behind the marble pillar and out of the line of fire. He could feel as the bullet tore through his side, cutting through cape and thin armor. The flexible suit not designed to turn away anything bigger than a 9mm or a knife. Breathing hard, his back hit the pillar and he slid down with a hiss. His eyes rolling to the girl he’d saved, perhaps foolishly, he demanded, “Keep your head down. Did you get hit?”
