Roxanne had to at least admit as fluff pieces went, it could be worse. A local inventor was making headway into robotics with greater practical applications. The city was far more filled with such scientists now to the point that Metro City seemed to be on the verge of becoming thee place for innovation in the field. Buuuut Roxanne hadn’t managed to get an interview with the man himself, just his wife. She tried to burry that disappointment as she knocked on the door. A stay at home mom. What fun. Still, Roxanne was a professional, she put a bright, friendly smile on her face as the door opened.

Having advance notice in order to prepare beforehand, opening the door to what was, to Veda, a more than familiar face this time doesn’t have her immediately nervous. She smiles automatically, hoping the expression looks welcoming. “You didn’t have trouble finding the building, did you?” she asks, tone light while asking.

“Mrs. Sharma?” Roxanne smiled warmly, “And only because GPS is an amazing modern invention,” she laughed lightly as she adjusted her grip on her equipment, “Though not nearly as impressive as what I’m sure you’re used to,” smooooooth segue Roxanne, she groaned internally, “Are you ready for me?”

Roxanne gave a bright laugh, very relaxed around this person who was a total stranger but very familiar despite herself. Her fingers ran over her mic absently as her lips curled into a warm smile, “I do have to say, skipping the ropes was lovely.”

“Oh right, duh,” she chuckled, scoffing at herself. The post-heroic interview. Her cameraman sighed ‘finally’ under his breath. Straightening her shoulders, Roxanne turned to the camera and waited for her cue, “With me is Metro City’s defender, Megamind, who has once again saved our fair city from disaster at the hands the latest round of super powered ruffians.”

She turned back to the heroine, “Megamind, do you think we’ll be seeing more of their like in the future? Should the citizens of Metro City be prepared to see them roaming the streets once more?” Roxanne raised a thin brow, the revolving door of the prison system being an unfortunate reality in the city.

“I imagine it was.” Just based on what she’d heard from the Roxanne she knew, Megamind could guess easily at what a change in pace it was.

Hearing that finally, though, she directs a look of questioning amusement toward the cameraman before returning her attention to this Roxanne. Settling back into her public persona now in order to answer the expected questions.

“If we’re lucky, most likely not.” Though like Roxanne she had some doubts as to how long they would be off the streets. But in the case of them returning, she’d still be here. “If they are, it wont be for long!”

“And I’m sure all of Metro City is as relieved as I am to hear that,” Roxanne smiled sweetly, “With heroes like Megamind here to keep our streets safe, we can all rest easy.”

When she was given the wrap-up signal from the camera man, Roxanne gestured to the site of the battle, “This has been Roxanne Ritchi with Channel 8, live on site of Megamind’s latest victory where cleanup is already underway. When it explodes, where here to give you the scoop.”

Once the camera was off, Roxanne sagged, “That was cheesy, tell me it wasn’t as bad as it sounded?” her eyes wandered back to Megamind, it had been… strange and unnatural to call Megamind the victor and heroic… but really nice too. It felt… right.

The Evil Lair

“I- really?” Roxanne shook her head, short hair fluttering around her, “Of course, I’d love to.”

There was no way in hell that she’d pass up the opportunity to get the inside scoop on Megamind’s Evil Lair and surprising unknown details of his life. A girlfriend, Roxanne still couldn’t believe it. Her brain buzzing with questions, she hardly noticed the lack of clothing on the gorgeous dark-skinned woman before her. Nearly not noticed. That… might prove a distraction for this interview that was a bit more than Roxanne was used to. But she’d done it before and could again. She would never let the attractiveness of an interviewee get between herself and a scoop.

“So how long have you and Megamind been dating?” Roxanne’s head swiveled around to take in everything about the Lair, “Are you the reason for his decreased criminal activity of late?”

Anna was very aware that something like this could potentially go badly, but she couldn’t figure out just why she could turn this woman away when the bots so obviously were commanded to not harm her. She wanted to know more about this Roxanne, her curiosity allowing her to lead the lighter woman deeper into the lair. She didn’t even think of how her body moved, hips swaying from side to side as she looked over towards Roxanne, smiling a slight, small smile as the questions were rattled off.

“I can’t say if I’m the reason he stopped his criminal activity or not.. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. I’m not really the proper person to ask such a question to, am I?” she mused, her smile growing as she teased the woman she was leading deeper into the lair. “We have been together for…” She trailed off, considering the question that was posed.

“…I’m not so sure. Time passes so oddly, its hard to say. I’d have to ask Syx,” she mused, shrugging her shoulders, turning to walk into the area designated to be the kitchen.

Roxanne’s face contorted a bit as her questions were given the runaround, but she really wasn’t surprised. She could never get a straight answer out of the blue alien so she wasn’t sure why she would expect different for his associates. Minion was the easiest by far to weasel info out of.

“Well, you are the only one here,” Roxanne popped her own hip in response. Megamind so often called her a temptress… but with the way this villainess? moved was positively seductive. Roxanne had to tear her eyes off the woman’s ass, luckily seeing the secrets of the Lair was a good distraction.

“Huh… I sort of expected more blinky dials,” somehow she wasn’t shocked by the spikes on the toaster… but the kitchen was also so much more mundane than she expected of Megamind.

The last statement had her turning back to face her…host.. with questioning blue eyes. There were even more people living with Megamind now? “Six? Who?”

“I’d like to know more about the city, your experience in it,” she waved a hand, she wouldn’t be able to use it in a piece but this would be far more engaging mentally than the puff pieces she’d been assigned lately.

“About your childhood and so forth. My main experiences with Megamind were as an adult and in that kidnapping chair,” she put her hand on her hip, “I want to learn about the other side, the other possibilities. What do they call it? Mirror-verse? String theory?” she fluttered a hand not sure which thing it should be called without referencing notes.

“Sorry, if that seems a bit too self-interested,” she ducked her head and tucked a bit of hair behind her ear, “My life has revolved around Megamind for nearly a decade… and now… I’m just realizing how much I don’t know.”

“Um, okay?” Why she was being asked this by someone who was obviously older than Lucy was the teenager didn’t know. Still used to people she didn’t know dismissing her because of her age.

“It, um- that’s okay.” Even if it sounded weird to her that Roxanne had for the most part little else going on for that long, keeping a wary eye on the brunette. “Should probably find a place that’s, um, better to talk in, right?”

“Oh of course, I was on my way to the library but they generally frown on talking. Coffee?” she registered Lucy’s age and reoffered, “Cocoa or tea? There are plenty of quiet little places around here.”

Coffee was an adult drink, wasn’t it? Though the reporter had started drinking it with her dad when she was 14. Back when finding the truth was the only thing that mattered and they’d stay up all night chasing leads. Which is rather what was driving Roxanne of late. The need to understand the city she was in now, to piece everything together. Her work was suffering for it… but she couldn’t bring herself to care about any of those trivial news pieces or the latest round of the same political garbage when a true Earth shaking mystery lay before her.

“It was quite a shock when I was told to come down here to report on Megamind,” Roxanne laughed easily, “I’ve never seen the action from this angle,” she looked demurely at the heroine, “It was a pleasant change of pace.”

“Well, yes, being on this side of the rope, as it were.” Hearing a similar sentiment from this Roxanne is oddly nostalgic, pulling herself back into focus as Megamind tries to keep from getting lost in the memory from before. Now wasn’t the time. “So I suppose now is the time for more serious questions?”

Roxanne gave a bright laugh, very relaxed around this person who was a total stranger but very familiar despite herself. Her fingers ran over her mic absently as her lips curled into a warm smile, “I do have to say, skipping the ropes was lovely.”

The storm raged over Metro City, lightning cracking overhead. Dashing for the cover of an awning, Roxanne cursed the fact that her mode of transportation was a little yellow scooter. The gas mileage was great and it was so easy to get around the city… until days like this. Hunching in her dark jacket, she rubbed her arms to stay warm, making idle conversation with the woman next to her, “I hate these freak storms this time of year. The weather has been so bad this fall.”

Face falling blank, Roxanne blinked, “Uh, what?” she really hated when people made jokes about her frequent kidnappings. The weather was easier to explain, “Work,” she shrugged and pointed at her moped, “And that doesn’t offer much protection.”

“mm, must be bitch working in this.” Alixon glanced up to the dark sky again when lighting crackled above the scrapers. Huffed gleeful. The dropping rain would only get worse from here… Huddled chin into her orange raincoat.
“Are you done? with work for today I mean?”

Roxanne laughed, “I’m off the clock but works never done. It’s a bad habit but I always end up bringing it home with me.”

Workaholic is what her mother would always call her. Her father too. But once Roxanne sunk her teeth into a story, she just couldn’t give it up.

Okay, really new then. That made a few decisions easy for Lucy, her grip on her backpack strap tightening briefly on hearing Roxanne’s second question. She chews on her lower lip carefully, mulling it over. “What kinda questions?”

Slipping back into more casual speech, hearing the hint of wariness in it makes the teenager wince. She was trying to sound more trusting than that.

“I’d like to know more about the city, your experience in it,” she waved a hand, she wouldn’t be able to use it in a piece but this would be far more engaging mentally than the puff pieces she’d been assigned lately.

The Evil Lair

@glittergcld from here:

She had heard the name around, had heard Syx mention her in passing. She had seen some of the footage from past battles that Syx had between him and his old lover, knew that there was a woman that had been taken a lot.. and now that she thought about it? It had to have been this one. She tilting her head just a touch more with a noise that was more of a animal-like grunt than anything.

“I remember seeing you on footage,” was all she offered on that. She didn’t necessarily trust the woman, but Syx obviously did. If anything, the brain bots made that little fact glaringly obvious. She took in a deep breath, forcing herself to relax a bit more, though her mind still didn’t like that this woman so easily invaded her territory.

“Would you like something to drink?” she prompted, smiling gently. Her voice was much gentler now, extending her hand to the other woman in invitation. She didn’t seem bothered in the slightest that she wasn’t clothed for company.. but then again, skimpy clothing was pretty much how she dressed at all times.

“I- really?” Roxanne shook her head, short hair fluttering around her, “Of course, I’d love to.”
