“I could never understand why the other children hated me when they loved Wayne. That me being blue was so much worse than the ways he wasn’t human. I used to come home with black eyes and bruises from those damn dodgeballs… Daddy would always wrap me up in my favorite blankie with the space ships on it and read me Principles of Physics. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized how much that meant that he’d read it to me even if he couldn’t understand it himself. He’d always let me explain or complain about the writing until I could fall asleep. Promising that tomorrow would be better… it never was.”
