The ‘a’ Roxanne Ritchi answered quite a few questions in and of itself. Leaning back and taking a sip of her coffee she laughed, “For it to be on the record there would have to be a story in the first place,” considering the reaction of several her coworkers when she tried to bring up the strange doubles, she was beginning to fear even the tabloids would think she was bonkers for thinking it was strange, “and in my experience CEOs on multi-million dollar companies are rarely happy to see me,” she looked him over with a critical eye noting every small difference between him and the blue man she knew, “Surprise is often it’s own advantage.”

The kidnappee comment struck an interesting train of thought, “If you’re married to Wayne and founded Megamind, does that make your Roxanne the villain?” she mused, shaking her head and laughing at the thought of herself in Megamind’s cape, “No, this is just for my own sanity. I was beginning to think I’d gone insane or suffered amnesia. It’s not often that you find yourself watching a broadcast you don’t remember giving.”

So she was new.  Good to know his instincts had been on point.

“Actually I never met a Roxanne or a Wayne before coming here,” Harrison confessed.  “I gather that’s a bit of a rarity.  Most of the other blue men met their Waynes in childhood and their Roxannes later in life.  But I’d frankly never heard of either of you before coming here.  So while I’m sure somewhere out there is an evil Roxanne, I don’t know of any personally.”

He reached for the donut bag and took out a small plastic container with five remaining donuts.  Selecting a chocolate cake with sprinkles, he hands the container to her so she can choose.  “If it helps, there’s only one other Roxanne Ritchi I know in town, and my husband is with her and her family now.  So while I have a half dozen different copies and clones to keep track of, you just have the one,“ he replies nonchalantly.

Accepting the donuts, Roxanne took a cinnamon sugar one and put the bag back, “She works for my station, but I’ve never seen her accept on the broadcasts… There are really that many blue men in the city? My research hadn’t turned up nearly so many,” she frowned, having estimated about half that number, “So, you really are Megamind? Or a version of Megamind?” she had to cringe a bit at herself, “I can tell you’re not based on your walk and speech pattern, but you look remarkably similar. I was really hoping that wasn’t just unconscious racism.”

With his holowatch firmly in place and activated, Syx strode into the small tattoo parlor wearing his most often used dark skinned face. His afro filling a portion of the space his blue head did in order to help the disguise generator. He found that the less the watch had to drastically fabricate the more realistic the disguise and the longer the charge lasted. Generating flowing hair and clothing he wasn’t actually wearing stressed the-the algorithms in the watch and increased the likelihood he’d end up looking like a CGI character come to life.

Smoothing out his leather jacket, Syx grinned at his uncle and leaned against the counter. Chatting about business and news since he’d been in prison. Passing on messages from those who were still inside.

Noticing Paige coming in he gave her a little wave, heading over toward her and plopping down in her tattoo chair as if he hadn’t turned down every offer she’d ever made to give him one. He flashed her a wide charming smile, green eyes shining.

“Draw up anything new while I was gone?” he always adored seeing her sketches for her designs.

“I’m not really good at this either..” she admitted quietly, glancing over at him as they drove before returning her attention to the road before them. There was no music playing in her car as they drove, something that drove her crazy, but she didn’t turn it on for a reason. Not many people liked metal music.

“Uhm..” she began, before trailing off, biting at her lower lip a moment, before glancing to him. “So was there a reason you were always interested in getting a tattoo?” She prompted, smiling some.

“You don’t really have an excuse to not get one now,” she tried to tease him.

Syx pulled his wrists up against his chest even though his gloves already hid the scars, “Well it is a form of artwork isn’t it?” he looked out the window, the full truth too uncomfortable to admit openly, “Most of my Uncles have tattoos that they either got in prison or outside of. Though honestly, I hadn’t ever really thought about it until hearing you talk so passionately about it.”

Following along in Harrison’s wake at a distance, Roxanne had to shake her head at the way he spent his money but from what she’d research it fit the bill. Rich beyond reason. The toy she assumed was for his son, having seen the birth announcement in the papers while looking up everything she could. The huge amount of donuts definitely struck her as a very Megamind behavior, though.

It wasn’t until the coffee shop that she’d gotten distracted from her goal. Her morning drink was long sense gone and she needed to refuel. Giving in she got a drink for herself. When she excited, for a moment she feared she’d lost him… but finally caught sight of his blue head as he moved towards the park.

Debating with herself, she finally walked over to his bench and sat down casually beside him. It was time to start the surprise interview proper, “Mr. Drake-Scott, if I’m correct?” she knew she was, “Considering you’re married to a super hero, what’s your take on Megamind?”

Harrison was so busy enjoying his drink and donut that he didn’t notice Roxanne Ritchi until she was right beside him.  In fact his mouth was still wrapped around his straw when she plopped down, and he raised one eyebrow at her strange greeting.  Even if he didn’t know that the Girly’s Roxanne was supposed to be with Wayne and the kids for their playdate, he could clearly tell this wasn’t the Roxanne he knew best.  Her question made it clear she was new, not least of all because she was rudely interrupting him for some kind of impromptu interview.

“While it’s always a delight to meet a Roxanne Ritchi,” he finally drawled, trying and failing to keep the amused smirk from playing at the corner of his mouth.  “I’m afraid if you want an interview, you need to book one with my publicist darling.  However if you’re welcome to a donut if you’d like to chat off the record, kidnappee to kidnappee.”  And with that he gestured to the bag sitting between them on the bench.

The ‘a’ Roxanne Ritchi answered quite a few questions in and of itself. Good Morning Sunshine

“Having to constantly go my Wayne and your Wayne is going to get confusing,” Syx pursed his lips, “A nickname? I’m sure I can come up with something.”

He did have a bad habit of nicknaming people, but generally only those he didn’t like, such as the vast majority of the prison guards. But he did have several he used now for Minion and Anna.

Nodding along to what both Harrison and Wayne said, Syx agreed, his lips quirking into a grin, “I can do that. Person unless you’re in costume?”

Aware that they were all out on the balcony, he felt rather like an ass for making such a scene. Chewing on his lower lip he looked back towards the kitchen, “Coco’s probably cold now…”

Slipping his arm around Syx’s shoulder, he gave the other man a reassuring side squeeze.  “We can reheat it,” he says gently.  “If we’re good boys, he may even do it for us with his eye lasers,” he adds playfully, looking up at his mate.

He can’t help but grin like a fool.  Oh his Wayne could be stubborn, literal, and judgemental at times.  But he was also kind and forgiving in all the best ways.  And Syx was certainly tempestuous, but he was no fool.  There was possibility in this.  He could work with this.  “Come on, let’s brainstorm nicknames inside,” he suggests, gently nudging Syx towards the door.

[Wayne scoffs at the ‘if we’re good boys’ part. Neither of the blue men were capable of such a thing. Shrugging, he follows the pair inside.] Perhaps if there were a couple ‘please’s involved, I might.

“Laser heated cocoa?” Syx laughed, “Wouldn’t it just burn the cups?” he’d never seen his own Wayne use his lasers for anything that show-offy since their school days.

He leaned into Harrison’s touch, one arm wrapping around the other blue man’s waist, though his eyes slid to Wayne to watch his body language. Relaxing enough to joke, Syx made an innocent face at Wayne, finger to his lips, “Pwetty pwease?”

HONESTY 8

HONESTY 8: What would your ideal lover be like?

“I want a person who can match me in wit, challenge me at every level, and still make me… feel like I’m not worthless when I’m at my weakest. Who can hold me when I’m… soft.”

13. How do they greet the world — what is their typical attitude towards life? How does it differ in different circumstances, or towards different subjects? Why do they take these attitudes, and why do they change? How do these tend to be expressed? 14. What do they care deeply about? 13. How do they greet the world — what is their typical attitude towards life? How does it differ in different circumstances, or towards different subjects? Why do they take these attitudes, and why do they change? How do these tend to be expressed?

Generally, Roxanne is an optimistic realist. She knows the world can be dark but she genuinely believes in the strength of humanity and that in the end what is right and just will triumph. In the specific, she has little faith in people not to be horrible assholes. Her work as a journalist has jaded her both with the horrible attitudes and prejudices of her coworkers and the insanity of behavior she’s seen from the public. She always tries to bit her tongue and take these things in stride with a smile.

This is one of the reasons she enjoys her time with Megamind. She doesn’t have to wear a fake smile around him. She is always in desperate need of someone to take out her frustrations and sass on. Mostly because being labeled a bitch at work would have serious complications.

14. What do they care deeply about? What kind of loyalties, commitments, moral codes, life philosophies, passions, callings, or spirituality and faith do they have? How do these tend to be expressed?

Roxanne has always sought out the underdog stories and to expose corruption. One of her first passion projects was to expose the double standards in the public school for students of different backgrounds. She feels very strongly in the to have public spaces and affordable education. She rarely is given leave to report on the interests she wants, but she always does everything she can to support and report on the places of learning and public recreation in the city. Feeling that many of the issues in the city could be healed through getting people on more even footing through education and pay.

Faith wise… she’s undecided. She’s explored a lot of options but can’t settle on one. Her parents were Christian, but she’s leaned more towards spiritual in general. Not having found a fit in either Buddhism or Daoism.

dark-blue-mondays:

It was a beautiful fall day, warm but with a breeze that played with the handful of leaves that had already fallen in Metro City.  And Harrison was glad for it.  It had been raining on and off for most of the last week, but today’s forcast called for a warm golden day.  Probably the last one they would get for a good long while so Harrison did not want to waste it.  Wayne was taking Devin for another playdate with Vycter while he caught up on hero business with Girly, so the blue man was happy to have a little alone time.  His full-time paternity leave was almost up and if he was honest, he was itching to get back in the CEO seat even if it was just part-time until after the holidays.

But until then, he had a day to himself and my god, he was going to enjoy it.  He practically skipped down the stairs of Megamind Inc in his casual jacket and tie with a delightful pair of suede loafers.  He’d forgone his usual security detail, since he had a new degun strapped to his ankle and another hidden in the breast pocket of his coat.  He’d decided to skip the car today as well.  It was just too nice to be inside! Perhaps he’d stop by the donut shop and ooh maybe pop into the Bvlgari store on his way to walking out by the lake….

Waiting until the blue man had gone by, Roxanne stood to follow, soothing down her yellow blazer. She could hardly believe her own eyes even though she’d seen the pictures. She pretended to be on her phone as she walked, occasionally taking pictures of him. Even without the lack of leather and actual fashion sense and glasses, it was clear very quickly that the only things this man shared with Megamind were the skin tone and body type. He didn’t even walk the same.

Still, the sudden appearance of more blue men in the city that for all intensive purposes had somehow always been here must be connected to Megamind. After all, his building was called Megamind! Once Roxanne had her nose on a story, she was horribly stubborn about following it to the end. Her mother always complained that it was her worst trait, and while it had gotten her into plenty of trouble over the years, it drove her more than anything to succeed.

Harrison stopped at a few of the smaller boutiques near his building.  At this point he knew them all, including which ones were worth his time and which ones weren’t.  In one he snagged a little bauble for Katelynn, in another a toy for Vyctor.  There was the donut shop of course, where he walked out with half a dozen.  And he couldn’t help but stop at Memory Lane for another of those delightful iced mochas that didn’t taste like coffee at all.

He was sipping his drink through a straw and contemplating between a surprise visit to Bernard at the Metro Man/Megamind Museum and heading on to the Bvlgari shop as planned.  However since he was in no hurry, he took a seat on a nearby park bench and decided to savor a bavarian cream while he mulled his options.

Following along in Harrison’s wake at a distance, Roxanne had to shake her head at the way he spent his money but from what she’d research it fit the bill. Rich beyond reason.
