Syx’s face lit up seeing Devin, letting out a soft ‘awww’ as Harrison flipped through the pictures, “Daddy’s little boy. He’s adore-able.”
His brows climbed at the descriptions of flying, “I… I can’t say I ever really put much thought into the downsides of Wayne’s powers… especially not in a baby,” he frowned thoughtfully. Thinking about it, maybe it was a wonder that Wayne had as much control over his powers as he had when they were in the little school house, “Is he going to end up with the laser eyes too? I can see how that would prove very handy for welding.”
He hummed, stocking his goatee, “But that does leave a much higher potential for repeats of the wall incident.” It had taken Syx a long time to get ungrounded from blowing up a wall before he could even talk in full sentences. Syx melted again looking at Devin sitting proudly by the dishwasher, “Such a clever little man.”
“He should have laser vision. He got all his genes for optics from Wayne, not from me. That’s why he has those gorgeous little violet eyes,” Harrison explained with a happy hum, so pleased that Syx didn’t seem annoyed at the baby photo slide show.
“But Wayne said the laser vision didn’t come in until he was about five, so we have some time on that. He does think I should build jet boots or something though. To peel him off the ceiling once he’s capable of throwing a flying tantrum,” he explained. “What was ‘the wall incident’?” he asked, reaching for his fork to finish his entree.
“I already have a pair of jet boots,” Syx said off-handed, “They are very… unstable,” he chewed on his lower lip as he thought, “I abandoned the idea a while back as impractical for what I wanted them for but I just put the prototype in storage. I kept tipping over. Stabilization issues, also steering, especially at speed,” his eyes unfocused as he started thinking over solutions.
Shaking his head and pulling himself back to the present, he gave a bit of a chuckle, “I wanted to go outside and play with my trike and one of my less trustworthy Uncles was very encouraging. It sort of turned into a riot after I blew out the wall from the cell block into the yard. I was having quite a bit of fun until I got grounded for… oh god, I don’t even remember now. It was absolutely forever. Honestly, I’m surprised I got off as easy as I did, looking back at it now.”
