Syx peered into his own glass, “Basil? Really?” he frowned thoughtfully at it. He was far from a wine connoisseur. He usually drank what was cheap or what Uncle Freddy recommended. He sniffed the drink experimentally, “What are they going for with this?”
Watching Harrison proved to be far more entertaining. His face split in a wide grin at seeing that happy clap. Green eyes dancing as he drops his chin into the palm of his hand, elbow braced on the table, “You’re adorable.”
“Sweet is good…” Syx took a sip himself, pursing his lips, “Very… odd.”
“Indeed,” Harrison agreed, some what aware that he probably did look adorable since he was clapping like an excited child. “Odd is a good way to put it. But I think that’s the point. New flavors, unusual preparations. Stunning new presentations. I suppose we’ll have to see if the food measures up.”
And with that he took a ravioli into a spoon and studied it. There was a filling in some kind of sauce inside. He wasn’t entirely sure how to eat it, but he had his suspicions. He spooned it into his mouth all in one bite and was delighted to feel the clear wrapper instantly melting on his tongue. Soon it was followed by a burst of flavor.
“Mmmmm this one has butternut squash and pancetta,” he sighed happily before looking up at Syx. “You try one.”
Syx followed Harrison’s example and picked up one of the clear ravioli. He turned the spoon, peering at the contents before popping it in his mouth. As the clear film dissolved, the flavored oil and vegetables hit his tongue. Eyes closing, he ate slowly, trying to figure out the flavor. Garlic… Carrot? Something nutty? He really wasn’t good with discerning things he didn’t eat often. Still…
He placed his chin in his hand, grinning at your date, “This is an ack-ceptable way to get tricked into eating a wide variety of veggies,” he let out a small laugh as he scooped up another, “Some water based reaction? Without it dissolves instantly. That explains the oil. I don’t suppose it would work at all with water based sauces.”
