Date Night

Chewing on his lip again, Syx broke down and tried the foam. New and interesting was good… but there was a certain comfort that he very much enjoyed about the same and routine and knowing what to expect. The bright garlic taste made him blink. His brow furrowed in experimental curiosity, he tried the sandy stuff too. Licking a bit and rolling it on his tongue. His mouth open and brows furrowed, he tipped his head to the side, baffled by the odd combinations of taste and texture.

“They-” he shook his head, trying to focus on the question “-they taste weird and are too mushy. Minion says it’s because they just cook them badly in prison but I just really don’t think food is supposed to be leafy. I generally don’t eat it if it’s green or mushy or too hard,” it was mostly a texture thing in the end, “Sweet is always better. Avocados are an exception of course. And tomatoes. But those are both fruits. Fruits are wonderful things when mashed into jellies and pies and on ice cream…” when it came down to it, the villain rarely ate anything not prepared or prepackaged in some way, “Soups are an acceptable form of greens though,” he mused, thinking to the soup and a few others Minion had snuck through on him over the years, “And pum-kins.”

Eating another bit of fish, he waved his fork as he spoke, “Likes… sweet is always good. And pastries. I have a weakness for butter and cream even if it doesn’t sit well… and coffee, I have the best ideas on coffee,” he laughed, it wasn’t really true, more just that he had too many ideas with a good caffeine buzz sending him into overdrive, “The only things I can’t stand aren’t likely to come up,” he shrugged off, looking away. Harrison being the wealthy man he was, the sort of foods that turned the blue villain’s stomach and brought back bad memories wouldn’t even be served as far as Syx knew.

Focusing on his date, Syx tucked his hands under his chin and focused his bright green eyes, “And what about you? What turns your nose or lights up your pale-let?”

Harrison continued to eat while he listened to his companion, moving on to a ‘dune’ of fresh steamed mussel with just a hint of coconut.

“Well having grown up on a prison diet of canned mushy vegetables, I can agree with you to some extent.  I’d rather eat veggies that weren’t boiled to death.  I swear the first time I had fresh peas, I nearly creamed my jeans,” he chuckled, setting down his fork to take a sip from his still-smoking cocktail.

“And I agree with you on the sweets and pastries. My metabolism is much higher than a human and I need the extra calories to do my best work,” he said, gesturing to his large head before picking up his fork again.  “My favorite is probably fresh cherries.  Hell, I’ll even eat them canned.  I’ve been known to polish off an entire can of filling before it ever seens a pie crust..  Same with peaches.  Now is it all vegetables you dislike, or only the green ones?  I’ve always been fond of fresh radishes and peppers myself.”  He smiled at his companion before stabbing at the shredded crab.  “And there’s nothing quite as lovely as an onion jam.”

“Onion jam? That doesn’t sound real,” Syx frowned. Slowly he picked over the plate but still avoided the green grass looking things. The rest, though throwing him off visually, was tasty if odd.

“Green is just the worst, but orange is usually good. I like carrots. So… roots, squashes, and fruits are good,” he shrugged, “If they happen to be green that’s okay. But I really hate salad.”

His nose crinkled, “I… can’t eat out of a can. Not right out of the can anyway,” bad memories of when he’d been on the streets always came back hard, “I always forget you started in prison too.” It was hard to remember when his date came off far more like those Syx had always found himself opposed to, even if they man in question always just drew him in deeper with fascination and interest.

“Seafood is a yes, I take it?” he hummed in extasy over the crab, “I adore it myself. I used to think tuna salad was heaven until Minion started cooking the real deal.”
