“I’ve been going by Nathaniel,” Nath shrugged a shoulder, “Considering I’m living with myself-” he stopped mouth open and mentally cringed, “-ah, just for lack of confusions sake.”
He was horrible at this. Dear lord. Hadn’t talking to crowds once been easy? Or at least, if not easy at least functionally so. Painfully out of practice, that’s what he was. Being alone was easier… but it’d made everything else harder. He’d forgotten how to fake being human. Wayne… his Wayne… had been helping with that… but it was hardly the same as being in public.
“That’s a cool name.” Wayne says with a genuine smile, pulling his hand back as it wasn’t taken and shook and put it in his pocket with no second thought to it.
“Lack of confusi- OH so you mean you’re living with another version of you? Damn, we seem to be popping up all over the place, don’t we?” He chuckles and tilts his head at the expression on Nathaniel’s face.
“Hey man, you alright?” To see pretty much himself in the wars was slightly alarming. Wayne was worried.
It wasn’t until Wayne pulled his hand back that Nath realized he’d missed the gesture. Cursing himself for beeing too in his head, he stuffed his hands deeper in his pockets. He was not prepared for social contact right now.
Still… when was he ever lately. Forcing one of his old smiles on his face, he tried for something more charming.
“Me? Of course, my fine sir. Why wouldn’t I be fine?” for a million reasons he had no wish to go into, “Though you’re only the second Wayne I’ve met.”
