Anna hadn’t been there for him.. wasn’t there for her mate as she promised him she would be. He had died on her, left her alone.. and the worst part? They wouldn’t give her the body to bury her as her instincts demanded her to do. Driven forward to do what she felt in her heart to be right, she had launched herself into the morgue of the city.
She didn’t care about any of the silly mortal men that were there, their screams not touching her as she tore through the building. Their flesh tore easily beneath her claws, a flurry of fur and furry as she fought to get to her mate. She didn’t care about the bullets in her body that they managed to get off..
It wasn’t until she got to the room Syx’s body still rested in that things got far more complicated. She staggered in, a blood trail following her as her breath labored in her chest. There was a keening noise in her throat, her sorrow rising even further until she stood over him.
She threw her head back as she let out a mournful howl, the noise echoing off the walls.. but at the end? A gunshot rang out, stopping the noise entirely, and moments later? She collapsed entirely. Her last act was to reach forward for her mate, needing him even in his death..
It was soothing to know that she would be joining him soon
