The Evil Lair

Smiling with glee as her fingers found and depressed a switch, Roxanne gave a slight push and the door swung open. She closed her eyes as she passed through the holowgram, it was far too visually strange to walk through a wall. Without her knowing, Megamind’s security did a sweep over her and registered her as ‘welcome guest’.

To protect Miss Ritchi from harm from his machines, Syx had simply plugged Roxanne’s bio signature into all his systems to treat her with protection. To save time, he’d simply copied that override into each new system. Never had it occurred to him that his favorite kidnappie would have cause to wander freely around his lair or that she’d ever even find it without being brought there.

Anna heard the soft sounds that were coming from the door, though even with that? She was entirely unconcerned with anything that was happening. She had full faith in the lairs defense systems. Between the bots and all the weapons.. well. Anna herself was a force of nature. She would be just fine, that confidence shown in how she walked steadily even when she heard the sound of the door opening.

She had just come around the corner to see Roxanne standing there… and the bots moving away. Her eyes widened with evident shock, her gaze flicking from the bot to the woman with short brown hair. In the lair where the lighting was a bit more dim than natural lighting, the glow of her eyes was more evident, taking another slow step forward, looking at the woman curiously.

“Who are you?” She asked, her head tilted in a more animal like manner than human.

Pausing to look around and orientate herself, Roxanne watched the Brain Bots fly around the room. They’d been drawn to the door thinking Daddy was home, but seeing [Special Case: “Roxanne” = passive mode, additional program, run: Do Not Play] they ignored her and went about their business. Roxanne didn’t notice their behavior as unusual as the bots had always behaved that way around her.

In fact, the only thing to shock the reporter as she stated into the lair was the unfamiliar glowing eyes and the woman’s voice. She froze, wide eyed at the stranger, feeling strangely offended. In embarrassment she realized it was the same feeling she’d had upon realizing as a child that her teacher had a life outside of school. She’d known that she didn’t know everything about the blue super villain’s life… but it was different to actually see something so unexpected staring her in the face.

Straightening her back to try and cover for her surprise, Roxanne countered, “Me? Who are you?” taking in the clothing she added hesitantly, “Do you actually live here?” she realized she didn’t really know if this was a home or a workshop or what it was to Megamind. She’d assumed he would just built his robots in a place like this. At the same time… it was hard to picture Megamind living in a normal house.
