Roxanne tapped her pencil repeatedly against her notepad. For the last several months she’d been conducting her own personal investigation. It wasn’t a story, only because so few other people seemed to even notice the problem. No one else at the station save a few seemed to pay attention to how the station shifted and changed location. Of how there were duplicate broadcasts. She’d found old tapes of news reports she’d given that she had no recollection of, but the woman on camera was clearly Roxanne Ritchi.
And then Megamind started acting odd. First, it started when the blue villain and Wayne started fucking. They tried to hide it, but it’d been painfully obvious that the nemesis had feelings for each other for years now. It had been something of a relief at first, but it seemed to be going the way of office romances now. The game had become increasingly strained and the last kidnapping so painful to sit through she nearly called a timeout. Not for the first time, she’d about begged Megamind to just give it up. For the first time, though, he seemed to take her seriously.
So much so that there hadn’t been a kidnapping in over a month.
She’d thought she would have been relieved, instead, he just grew more worried. More so as Wayne withdrew further. So Roxanne had thrown herself into solving the strangeness in the world that had suddenly appeared. Following up on the multiple news reports for different blue men had been the easiest. In particular, Harrison Drake-Scott. She’d found no shortage of articles and reports on him. Some even given by the mysterious duplicate of herself.
It was for that reason that she found herself sitting nonchalantly outside of Megamind Inc one morning with a book and a cup of coffee. She watched the building out of the corner of her eyes, wanting to see this not-Megamind for herself.
