Good Morning Sunshine

Feeling a sense of relief, Syx went back to his food. It was a wonderful to not be alone in this matter, to have more people who understood relationships, especially odd ones. Often his Uncles advice was… suspect or unhelpful and Minion had less experience than Syx did when it came to relationships.

Mouth full, Syx choked at Harrison’s topic change. Thumping his chest with a sputter, “Ah… I… okay?” he should have known this would come up… but he’d never talked villainy with Wayne outside of their slowly setting up the rules they’d abide by, “I could run down the rules of the game and villains code? I had a similar discussion with uh… Girly?” he looked to Harrison for confirmation on the nickname for the female Megamind, “when I first got here. Otherwise, if there’s something more you need to know…”

It was one thing to mention the rest of his business with Harrison, but he was suddenly incredibly self-conscious about speaking about his work as Mr. Blue with a Wayne. He offered up a somewhat nervous smile, “I’d like to hear about how your ‘game’ differs from mine as well, if it does, that is. Girly gave me the impression things were very similar for her, but I know she’s a hero now… which is frankly baffling…”

[Unlike Syx, Wayne only tenses slightly at the abrupt and blase way that Harrison switches subjects. The man is great at business, but does not understand the intricate steps of the Game. You don’t just ask a villain how they plan to villain in your city. Negotiations should involve a mixture of threats, flattery, boasting, word play, and maybe some light flirting. Harrison’s method seems very much like smooshing two people’s faces together and expecting it not to be awkward.]

[It’s quite entertaining to hear his nickname for the female Megamind from someone who is nearly a stranger. It makes Wayne briefly wonder what she thinks of the nickname spreading so widely; if she approves or if she’s just irritated with him for ignoring her real name. Maybe he would remember to ask her some day.]

[Holding his chin in thought, Wayne considers how to answer. Sure, he is less worried about this Megamind being a serious danger, but that doesn’t mean that he really trusts the man yet.] Well, I’m sure that there are some variations if for no reason other than how messed up this city is. For example, many locations have duplicates and you might not always end up in the right place. I don’t know if you have a Lair in this dimension, but if you do, it’s probably in the same place as Girly’s Lair and my Megamind’s Lair. So there is a fair chance that I could go to visit her and accidentally end up at your Lair instead. I’ll pretend that I didn’t see anything and you will, hopefully, not let your brainbots maul my cape.

Beyond courtesies like that… for the most part, I am the lead hero of the city. Not so much because of any bossiness or bullying, but because I can keep a better tab on the entire city and can correspond with many of the supervillains.

[He runs a hand through his uncoifed hair and sighs.] Which brings me to the next part. There are a few elements here that are beyond my control. Before all of this dimensional nonsense, I had no trouble driving unsavory villains and heroes out of my city, but now there are a few persons I cannot remove for various reasons. Some of them I leave so that I can keep a leash on them and some I simply do not have the ability to drive away permanently. Most of the supervillains here have limits that I am comfortable with, but some of the rogue elements, demons and other magical beings, are beyond my control. I’ve got logic and strength on my side, but I can’t go toe to toe with a djinn and expect to win. You say you know some magic, which means you might have better luck than me. However, that means that you and I will have to discuss who you are attempting to drive out.

Syx nodded along as Wayne spoke, “Mine and Girl’s lairs are in different locations but likely only because I move mine regularly. Her’s is in a location I’ve considered in the past. I know what you mean about things being out of sort several of my…” he trailed off and fidgeted before admitting as he looked away from Wayne, “Several of the businesses I protect or have sponsored don’t exist anymore. It’s frustrating. She told me about the duplicate Doom Syndicate. Mine use magic, that’s the reason I have any experience at all,” he sighed and rubbed his face.

“Demons… I know that Psycho Delic had a run-in a while back with a demon but little more. Djinn and magic-anon and all this nonsense? It’s already giving me a headache,” he stared into his drink, “I… don’t think my Wayne is going to be much help in all this… he’s… slowed down his number of patrols…”
