“Easy…” This wasn’t the first time she’d dealt with something like this, though seeing it from someone who looked so much like her is still a new occurrence for Megamind. “You were the only reason. Not now.”
It wasn’t as if he was the only person working to contain the man here. The reminder is familiar enough, remembering thinking the same herself before, that she has to fight that memory back down.
“You’ll have to forgive me for not being filled with confidence,” Syx scowled at her. He’d seen nothing but the loss of his carefully tended businesses and more territory taken over by minor gangs. More drugs on the streets. More run down buildings. He’d spent so much effort building in the economy. Improving the quality of life in the slums where he’d taken his territory. It crushed him to see his work undone.
Huffing a breath of annoyance despite knowing he had good reason, Megamind rolls her eyes. “You’ll have to learn to be, then.” is her response, one of her Brainbots now hovering at shoulder level.
His own bots moved defensively around them as Syx glared at her. It was a gamble, but he kept his own weapon lowered. Looking her in the eye, green eye to green, he put the de-gun into its holster and raised his hands, “Well he-ro,” he overemphasized, eyebrows raised, “What now?”
